Archduke of Ontario

Albert Morris, Professor

HISTORY

Professor Albert Morris was a humble man, loving husband and father of three as well a respected professional archaeologist for the Queen’s University of Toronto; ‘was’ implies he no longer is any of these, but instead is a magically soul-dominated madman with vast magical abilities, all from an ancient arcane amulet he found several years ago.

Professor Morris was tasked several years ago to lead a team in a federally-funded archaeological dig at an old abandoned British settlement site unearthed and discovered the year before.  During his team’s time on the site, strange notes, diary entries and carving found around the site depicted the town’s leader, Albert Morse, went mad and killed nearly all of the settlement’s inhabitants.  It mentioned they’d ‘neutralized’ Morse the only way they knew how and ‘buried the evil that consumed him’, all before the remaining survivors died from a deadly winter storm that mere days later.  The discovery was historical and unnerving for many on the team.

During the fifth week of the excavation, Professor Morris and his team discovered a four foot high pile of rocks in the center of the settlement with a gold cross staff jutting from the center of the pile.  As Morris’ team carefully documented the rock pile, the gold cross staff was disturbed.  Immediately a red pulsing light emanated from under the rock pile.  Curiosity overcame the team as they removed the stones from the pile.  At the bottom of the pile were several other crudely made crosses surrounding a red amulet; an amulet that was the source of the pulsing red light.  Unsure what to do, Professor Morris used a metal excavating tool to life the amulet.  Once clear of its hole, he saw that it had a gold necklace attached to it. As he attempted to manipulate the excavating tool that was holding the amulet, it slipped from to tool’s maw where the gold chain slid down the long tool’s shank and allowed the amulet to swing against Professor Morris’ hand.  As soon as the amulet touched his hand, it fused to it.  After that moment, Professor Morris ceased to exist; in his place was something far more evil.

The red glow of the amulet permeated Morris’ body as it writhed in what seemed like an unseen electrical shock. The red glow eventually move to Professor Morris’ eyes, making them glow an evil red color.  As Professor Morris’ team approached him, the being that was once Albert Morris stood up and zapped each of the team members around him, causing them to rapidly dehydrate and turn to lifeless mummified husks in mere seconds.  The being that was Albert Morris then let out a devious, evil laugh, the likes of which would never have dome from Professor Morris ever in his life span.  Instead, the being that now dominated the body of Professor Morris was an ancient trickster spirit of the Canadian North that most Aboriginal Canadian “First People” knew through legend as “Malsum”.  “Malsum” strutted through the excavation site, doing whatever he pleased, turning inanimate objects into evil, animated things designed to kill the other humans at the excavation site.  Drills grew legs and jumped onto students’ backs, drill holes into their bodies, backs and heads; generators morphed into repugnant troll-like bodies, zapping people with arcs of electricity, killing them on contact.  Chaos ensued around the site with many of the site archaeologists being killed within mere minutes.  “Malsum” did capture several of the site personnel and toyed with them, turning them into raccoons and turtles before milking them for information about where he was and what ‘era’ it was.  After hours of torturous interrogations, “Malsum” learned all the information he needed to know about modern man, the 21st Century and “Canada”.  He enjoyed the thought of “Canada”, but disliked the premise of an aggressive neighbor that was the United States (he actually disliked anyone or anything being more powerful than him.  Before eventually killing the remaining personnel, he told them the tale of how the British Settlement’s leader, Albert Morse, found and disturbed an old arcane stone prison the Inuit Indians once build to capture the Trickster and how the Malsum controlled the possessed Morse to kill and mutilate the settlers. 

One of the British female settlers ‘tricked’ Malsom into possessing her Ruby Amulet, by which their settlement’s priest further entrapped Malsum using their ‘Blessed trinkets’.  Malsum told them he’d been imprisoned under that stone pile until Professor Morris’ archaeology team freed him.  After extracting information that the nearest ‘settlement’ was called Ontario, Malsum decided to rename himself jokingly as the “Archduke of Ontario”. After the “Archduke’s killing spree, it took off into the wilds of Northern Canada.

Over the next few years, campers, hunters, environmentalists and those living in the wilderness of Northern Canada came across the “Archduke” only to meet extremely horrific deaths.  One such encounter at a Timber Contest resulted in dozens of deaths and unexpectedly turned one of the United States’ contestants into the superhero known as Maine Man.  In that encounter, Maine Man sliced the Archduke in two from head to foot, however, the Archduke’s magics saved him and he eventually ‘reknitted’ Albert Morris’ possessed body.  All this did was give the world a short pause before the Archduke came back with a vengeance.

Eventually, Royal Canadian Mounted Police and some Canadian superheroes encountered the angered, maniacal being.  As luck would have it, one encounter left the Archduke weakened after holy water was tossed at it.  Eventually, a megalomaniac known at “Emperor North”, a madman who wanted to dominate Canada and the United States and make his own North American “United Canadian Empire” (UCE), learned of this and using that knowledge, went forth to ‘enlist’ the Trickster into his own ranks of super-powered “Enforcers” for his new “UCE” nation .  In a major battle that resulted in the Emperor losing over 100 troops, the Emperor ‘tricked’ the trickster long enough to plant holy and blessed objects and bottles of holy water on the Trickster’s possessed body.  As a result, the Archduke/Trickster was immobilized.  The emperor took the Archduke/Trickster to one of his labs where he implanted remotely operated blessed and holy devices about the Archduke’s possessed body and new costume the emperor provided.  The emperor was now able to control the Archduke using a remote control that would expose the Archduke/Trickster to the holy water and blessed artifacts, thus not only diminishing the Archduke’s/Trickster’s powers, but was enough to even kill it.  The Trickster was impressed with his ‘cage’ and with the Emperor for his devious design.  As such, the Archduke/Trickster agreed to work for him and do what the emperor said, so long as he had control over its own death.

Over the next few years, the Archduke has followed Emperor North’s orders like an obedient soldier who still irrationally murders others than anger or irritate him (even some of Emperor North’s troops).  Regardless, he is a pawn of Emperor North and continues to use it magical powers to perform many evil and murderous tasks, that is, until it figures out how to be free of the Emperor’s remote control…

The Archduke of Ontario is a magical being that is maniacal and murderous.  It enjoys inducing pain and suffering and cackles with laughter over its own ‘imaginative’ ways to use its arcane powers to induce the pain and suffering.  Without the holy and blessed devices on him, the Archduke has monstrous dimensional and universal magical powers that can do ‘simple’ things such as teleportation, healing and arcane energy shields and blasts as well as complex magics involved warping reality within several square miles, transforming people into animals, telekinesis, and dimensional teleportation.  With the emperor’s holy and blessed devices inset in Albert Morris’ possessed body and costume, the Archduke is only remarkably powerful, performing limited transformations, self-teleportation within only miles, remarkable arcane energy blasts and shields, limited hovering, and remarkable healing, as well as handfuls of other lower level spells.  Should the Trickster ever leave Albert Morris’ body, Morris would only have minutes to live as a result of the massive injuries the Archduke has placed upon Morris’ body over the years. 

If the Archduke ever gets free of the Emperor’s control, there is a high possibility that North America and the world may face an extremely powerful and angry spirit that would most likely extol destruction and death on a planetary scale against us.

 


Bonne Fyre

Jeane-Marie Fyrette

HISTORY

Bonne Fyre was a heroic Canadian teen superhero that overcame great adversity with her younger sister, Emily (Emme) and has since turned to evil as a member of the villainous United Canadian Empire.

When Jean-Marie was only 10, she lived with her family on an expansive tract of land just outside the town of Blackpool, located just across the Canadian side of the U.S./Canadian border.  Her father was a shady businessman in Montreal, Quebec who was rarely home.  Her mother was an abused, broken woman.  Jean-Marie’s younger sister, Emily, or “Emme” as she was called, was her best friend as they grew up together.   Most of the kids in school made fun of the two of them, since Jean-Marie had red hair and Emme had black.  The playground derision only strengthened their sisterly bond all the more.

One Saturday afternoon when Jean-Marie was outside playing, she decided to go down to an area where there was an old well on the property; a well her father told her many times to never around.  Curiosity being what it was, Jean-Marie decided to see what was so special about it. After a mile of walking and skipping through the woods to the site of the old well, Jean-Marie saw several vehicles around the old well.  Four of them were tanker trucks that seemed to be pouring something that smelled terrible into the well.  Jean-Marie advanced on the trucks and several men surrounding the trucks and asked the men what they were doing.  The men quickly became spooked over her appearance and waved her off, cursing at her.  She told the men that whatever they were doing was obviously bad and she was going to tell on them.  One of the men grew agitated over her remarks and grabbed her up.  He lifted her up and dangled her over the open well, telling her that if she told anyone what she saw, they’d drop her into the well where no one would ever find her.  Instead, Jean-Marie screamed at the top of her lungs mentioning she’d tell the police about the evil men and their “Altona Chemical Company” trucks and what they were doing. As she continued to wriggle and writhe, her sister Emme appeared.  Emme had obviously followed Jean-Marie to the well.  Emme ran at the man holding her sister over the well and beat on his legs telling her to let her sister go.

The evil Altona Chemical Company man did just that; let Jean-Marie go.

Jean-Marie dropped into the deep well. As she splashed into the liquid that was in the well, Jean-Marie’s skin began to burn.  She screamed in agony as the gelatinous ooze that had been discharged into the well began turning her skin bright red.

That’s when the same evil Atona Chemical Company man threw Emme down the well.

Emme struck her head on the wall of the well on the way down and was knocked unconscious.  As Jean-Marie continued to scream, trying to cradle the limp form of her younger sister as well as keep her head above the ooze, the Altona Chemical Company trucks drove off.  Jean-Marie, try as she might, wasn’t strong enough to stay aloft in the mucky ooze and slipped below its frothing surface with Emme. As Jean-Marie gulped in the ooze from the well, she started drowning, as was Emme.  As the life was waning from Jean-Marie, she felt her lungs burn and boil.  As she tried to exhale the buildup in her lungs, she instead shot a stream of fire out of her mouth and nose, igniting the chemical ooze.  In a furious explosion, Jean-Marie and Emme were catapulted out of the well, riding on a flume of fire and flame that shot out of the well and extended over 500 meters into the sky.  Both Jean-Marie and Emme fell to the ground hard, each breaking bones in the resulting fall.  Both of them lay broken, naked and barely alive on the open field with flames dancing off their bodies.  Jean-Marie finally passed out, with her final view being the flaming body of her younger sister lying motionless yards for each other.

Jean-Marie awoke in the hospital several weeks later.

As Jean-Marie came to, she realized that she was not burned…or for that matter, dead.  She jumped out of the hospital bed and went into the bathroom to see how badly she was burned.

She wasn’t.

She looked as normal as the time before she was dropped in the well.  A nurse entered and quickly called for the doctor.  Over the next few hours, Jean-Marie was told what had happened since the well.  Policemen saw the plume of fire while half a mile away and drove to the site of the well, where he found both Jean-Marie and Emme, caked in the gelatinous ooze from the well and smoldering.  He immediately cleaned the ooze off them and wrapped them blankets, only for both the blankets to catch fire.  He put out the fire and waited for an ambulance.  They were then taken to the hospital, but had to be transported wrapped in fire-retardant blankets.  Once at the hospital, they were stabilized, however their heart rates were nearly twice their speeds.  There were no burns to their skin or, from what the doctors were able to discern, no real injuries…including no broken bones (which both girls did get broken bones from their fiery fall). With no other recourse, they placed the two comatose girls in separate concrete wards and monitored their conditions.  Emme woke up and was discharged two weeks before Jean-Marie awoke.  Amazed at her miraculous survival, Jean-Marie was discharged hours after she awoke to her parents; a blubbering, crying mother and an angry father.

The car ride home was silent; too silent.  When asked where Emme was, her father said they’d talk about that when they got home.  Once at home, Jean-Marie was drilled with dozens of questions by her father, including if she ‘burned’ everything she touched too.  Not understanding anything he was asking, he became more agitated and smacked Jean-Marie across the face, yelling at her to tell the truth.  The mother tried to get between them and was summarily beaten before Jean-Marie’s eyes.  As her father beat her mother, he ranted about how he was sick of women ‘doing as they please’ and ‘not listening to what the man of the house had to say’.  He exclaimed that if the girls hadn’t gone down to the well and saw the Altona trucks there, they wouldn’t be in so much trouble and he wouldn’t be as swamped as he was with their medical bills.

As he uttered these words, she realized that no one said anything about the Altona truck and that she herself told no one else.  How did he know about the Altona Chemical trucks?

Jean-Marie leaped at her father demanding he stop beating her mother.  As she tried to pull him off of her, her arms exploded into a sheath of flames, burning her dad’s clothes.  He ran off and found a hose and started spraying himself down.  The mother, badly beaten, whispered to Jean-Marie to go to the shed and release her sister and run; run as far as they could into the Canadian wilderness and never look back.

Weeping and scared, Jean-Marie tried to help her mother, only for the furious shirtless father to come stomping back towards both of them with his hands balled into fists and a twisted, angry face displaying his intentions.

Jean-Marie ran.

As her father beat her mother furiously, Jean-Marie got to the shed.  It was locked.  She yanked and pulled on the lock furiously.  Once again, her arms burst into flames and her hands that were trying to yank the padlock off the door started to melt the heavy metal lock until is dissolved into molten slag.  Shocked by what she’d done thusfar, she paused only long enough to realize her father was advancing on her location.  Jean-Marie flew open the shed doors to see the beaten and bloodied body of her younger sister Emme chained to a tractor, lying atop a pile of scorched cinderblocks.  Jean-Marie looked at her flaming hands and grabbed the chain that held Emme and melted it just as she did with the lock.  She then tried to grab for Emme, but Jean-Marie’s hands were still on fire.  Fearful of burning her sister, she instead turned on her advancing father and told him to stay away.  As he quicken his pace and grew an even more twisted expression, she held out her hands and told him to stop.  A shaft of flames flew from her hands and engulfed her father from head to toe.  Her burning father continued to advance, slowing with each step until he fell to the ground mere inches from her feet.  He was no longer moving.

She’d killed her father.

Tears fell and dissipated into steam from her face as she motioned her injured sister from the pile of rocks and bricks.  They both navigated around the still burning corpse of their father and broke into a run to their mother, all the while, Jean-Marie’s fiery arms extinguished…with no burns or marks where the flames had previously danced from her skin.  Once they made it to their mother, Jean-Marie quickly realized she was already dead.  Blood was seeping into the ground from under the mother’s head and the lifeless eyes and terminal scared expression left on their mother’s face was all that was left for them to remember her by.

Both Jean-Marie and Emme ran.

The both ran until they could run no more which was at least three miles out of town and into the woods.  There, Emme and Jean-Marie embraced in a tearful reunion; a reunion that was the only bright spot in their lives since the incident at the well.  Right then, Jean-Marie swore to Emme she’d never again let anything happen to her and that she’d always be there for her until eternity.

Over the next few years, the two girls grew up on the street as homeless urchins.  They walked from town to town, heading north each time, trying to find a way to survive another day.  They ate from dumpsters and trash cans.  They begged for food on the street corners. They slept in alleyways and inside other people’s cars, always leaving before anyone found them there.  This went on until Jean-Marie was 15 and Emme was 13.  As teenagers, their lives took another turn; one bad, one very good.

During their five years on the street, both girls learned the extent of their new powers.  Jean-Marie’s powers were stronger and ranged, while Emme’s were more close-in and less intense.  They quickly realized that the fires they generated from their own willpower did not burn or hurt them, or each other.  Both never needed to warm themselves by a fire since both were able to generate enough internal heat to always stay arm, regardless of how cold it was during the harsh Canadian winters.  They learned to master their powers over time, but, as with all learning, there were stumbling points.  Sometimes they set things on fire unintentionally, but soon found they could also control fires within meters of their bodies and as such were able to extinguish flames as well as create them.  As such, a local homeless man caught both Jean-Marie and Emme practicing their powers one night and told them they had a ‘special gift’.  Jean-Marie was quick to explain her powers were given to her by evil men rather than a gift.  In their ensuing discussions, Jean-Marie felt comfortable enough to tell the homeless man what happened to them.  When she told the homeless man about Altona Chemical Company, he bristled with anger.  He told the girls that “ACC”, as he called them,  was under investigation for multiple infractions of dumping chemicals illegally, however, some ‘legal eagle’ known as Seth Jenkins had exonerated ACC over the years.  He knew for a fact ACC was dumping chemicals in a river he’d been sleeping near a few years ago. When the homeless man went to the police about it, they arrested the homeless man and promised to free him if he kept his mouth shut.  As the homeless man continued about the ACC’s additional atrocities he’d seen on TV since then, Jean-Marie took on a dark mood – a dangerous mood.  She wanted to make ACC pay for doing what they did to her and her sister.

She wanted revenge.

The next day, Jean-Marie collected all the money they had and got bus tickets back to Blackpool, where she intended to cross the border into the United States through the woods and obliterate ACC once and for all; especially the man that dropped Emme and her down into the well.  In Blackpool, they got off the bus and walked down familiar roads that once rode bikes on years before.  Without realizing it, they’d walked right up to their old house; it was now abandoned and decrepit.  Curiosity being what it was, they climbed the rickety fence and made their way into the old house.  They climbed the stairs to their old rooms.  Wallpaper was moldy and peeling; the floors were warped and water soaked from a hole in the roof.  Yet amidst the deplorable conditions, they both enjoyed those few moments reminiscing about a childhood that could have been better than anything since the well.  Jean-Marie spied an old teddy bear in the corner of Emme’s side of the closet and gave it to Emme.  Emme hugged it and mentioned it was her favorite toy.  Although the teddy bear was musty and dirty, she hugged it as if it were family.

That’s when they met their old home’s current squatters; a band of teenage meth-heads.

What started as a friendly “who are you?” questions quickly catapulted into a gang rape.  As the girls were immobilized, Emme and Jean-Marie looked across the floor at each other, smiled, and both burst into flames.  Using their powers as if they were veterans, they quickly scorched each of their assailants, scattering them around the room.  When one boy took out a gun and shot at Jean-Marie, she burst into flames and melted the bullet before it hit her as nothing but mere slag.  She then told the would-be murderer that he’d ‘burn in hell’ and ignited the teen in a cauldron of fire.  The gun-shooting teen burned to ashes before everyone’s horrified eyes.  As each of the meth-heads scrambled to escape the room, Jean-Marie helped Emme up and ensured she was alright.  They both slowly walked as flaming figures down the stairs, following the meth-heads…right down into the basement.  There, the meth-heads had set up a meth lab, with barrels of dangerous and explosive chemicals all around.  As the meth-heads tried to escape through the back door, Jean-Marie shot a length of flame ahead of them, blocking their escape.  When the meth-heads pulled out their knives and guns to attack the sisters, again, both looked at each other and ‘fired it up’, causing the entire house to blow into pieces and sending the roof over 20 stories into the sky before it came crashing back down.  Both Jean-Marie and Emme walked from the blazing debris that was once their home, unscathed, albeit naked.  Neither had yet found clothes that were ‘fire retardant’ enough for them to not burn through.

As the police and fire department arrived, the girls, using their street-living skills, made off with clothes from a neighbors wash line in their backyard, took some shoes from another house’s car and hoodies from another house’s mud room.  Even though both sisters could have extinguished the flames of their old burning house, they instead left it to be extinguished by the firemen…and time.

As luck, or perhaps, fate, would have it, the house was being watched by a Canadian Drug Enforcement Group.  Surprised at what happened, they called in two Canadian superheroes to stop and interrogate the two girls.  The two Canadian superheroes intercepted the girls just as they were about to cross into the United States by way of a game trail in the woods.  The two Canadian superheroes asked the girls nicely to come back with them to explain what happened at the house.  The girls were very nervous and afraid they’d get arrested, for which the two Canadian superheroes promised they would not be arrested, regardless of the outcome.  At a government border crossing station, the sisters, the two Canadian superheroes and several Canadian Drug Enforcement agents sat down and talked while providing the girls with the first normal meal they’ve had in years.  The girls gave the authorities a fake last name they’d used on the streets; Fyrette.  After a couple hours of discussions and some guarded responses as to the sister’s parentage and if they knew who the house once belonged to, the authorities held a meeting with another few government officials.  The resultant: the Canadian government wanted to ask the girls to volunteer to help create a new superhero team for Canada.  After some discussion and concerns, the girls, who had nowhere else to go but to destroy ACC, accepted the offer.  As a result, Jean-Marie was placed into the superhero training program immediately, while Emme, who’s education level was far below the norm, needed a proper public education and schooling before she’d be ready for her role as a superhero (plus, according to the Canadian superhero group’s leader, Emme was too young to be a superhero at that time).  Things were now looking up for the sisters.  They had a roof over their heads, three meals a day, clean clothes, cool new superhero costumes and a future; a future that would soon make a diabolical direction change.

For about a year, Jean-Marie worked side by side (as a sidekick) with a few new Canadian superheroes.  Most of them were very hardcore and demanding, however, Jean-Marie knew that Emme was happier now than she’d ever been and went along with the crushing demands of the super group for her sake.  In several missions, Jean-Marie actually helped save hundreds of people from fires, terrorists and natural disasters.  She even got her new codename: Bonne Fyre.

The strength of her powers grew and through the help of the Canadian supergroup’s leader, Bonne Fyre learned to use her powers in new ways.  Weeks before Emme was to don her new superhero costume and join the superhero ranks, the sisters were outed as the two children that killed their father (and according to a terrible police investigation) and their mother at their original home.  They were charged with false identities (from using the Fyrette last name) as well.  Both were also blamed for the well fire that occurred on their property and the acres of woods that were set afire as a result, a fire that resulted in burning down several homes (and some government 'secret' monitoring towers).  Before the girls could even defend themselves, the media got a hold of the story, spouting the government was training ‘little murdering teenage girls’ as superheroes, citing public outcry that the girls be immediately arrested for their parents’ murders.  Jean-Marie was furious over what was quickly spinning out of control.  Emme was turned over to foster care that night and Jean-Marie was told she was under ‘house arrest’ pending review of her testimony.  Try as she might, Jean-Marie was unable to garner any sympathy or support. 

Everything was falling apart.

To help take her mind off the media frenzy and court review, the leader of the Canadian supergroup recommended Jean-Marie accompany him on an easy mission, since being under ‘house arrest’ meant he, as a designated government official, was allowed to escort her wherever needed. He also though it  might help Jean-Marie keep her mind off the proceedings and Emme’s new foster care mandate. He also hoped that Bonne Fyre’s ‘public service’ in the mission would help evoke her image of doing good 'in the face of the charges against her'.  Sick with worry over Emme and not sure what to do next, she agreed to go on the mission, so long as she got to visit Emme after the mission.  As it turned out, Jean-Marie would make a fateful decision during that mission; a decision that would change her and her sister’s path to a darker one.

The mission was simple: monitor a military base that was deduced to possibly be raided by a terrorist known as Colonel Chanteau.  Jean-Marie had heard of General Chanteau, even during her years on the streets.  He was a massively popular Canadian war hero that was said to have ‘saved the world’ from the invading Soltan Star Empire when they invaded Earth in 2000 (which Jean-Marie and Emme were too young at the time to remember the invasion).  As far as she was concerned, Colonel Chanteau was still a great national hero and was shocked to hear that the Canadian government now considered him a ‘terrorist’.  She verbally tried to tell the Canadian supergroup leader about her thoughts and feelings on the subject and to be released from the mission.  As the two argued about this, Colonel Chanteau and his United Canadian Empire troops teleported into the military base via his mystically empowered enforcer, Netherbride.  The Canadian supergroup leader immediately attacked the UCE troops and Colonel Chanteau.  Bonne Fyre stood mesmerized from the sidelines, unable to move, unsure what to do next.  Within minutes, the Canadian superhero was defeated.  When one of the UCE troops wanted to put a bullet through his head, Chanteau said, “No.  He was only doing his job, much like we would have done before this”.  With that, Bonne Fyre revealed herself from behind some crates, her arms aflame and ready for action if the situation presented itself.  She asked if they killed the Canadian supergroup leader, with Chanteau stating ‘of course not.  He’ll be fine when he wakes up.” Bonne Fyre was torn; attack Chanteau or just leave.  Chanteau saw she was struggling with the decision and used his powerful charm and personality to make Bonne Fyre drop her guard.  Rather than kill her, Colonel Chanteau asked Bonne Fyre if she wanted to belong to a family that would care for her instead of scorn her; family that takes care of each other, no matter what they’d done in the past.  The decision came quick.

That night, Colonel Chanteau, three dozen UCE troops, Netherbride and Bonne Fyre arrived at Emme’s foster care center and ‘liberated’ her from their ‘uncaring clutches’, as Chanteau put it.  They all were then transported to Colonel Chanteau’s base on Wolfe Island.  Both Jean-Marie and Emme were given their own rooms and told to take all the time they needed to talk and discuss things.  After a long discussion, Jean-Marie and Emme decided to give Colonel Chanteau a chance for the next two weeks; if they didn’t think he was the man they’d believed him to be, they’d leave.

It didn’t take but one week for them to permanently side with Colonel Chanteau and the UCE.

During that first week, Jean-Marie and Emme were hunted like rabid dogs by both the Canadian and United States governments.  They were cited as ‘criminals’ and 'converted into terrorists'; lethal force was authorized to subdue them.  The sisters were dumbfounded they were being treated this way.  After several generous gestures from Chanteau, both sisters gladly decided to join the UCE and Chanteau’s newly formed super-powered group, the “UCE Enforcers”. 

Over time, both sisters grew to like their new UCE family.  They felt like a real family for the first time ever, with Chanteau being the kindly 'father figure'.  Eventually, the sisters went on missions with the UCE, only to be shot at several times by Canadian and U.S. troops, one time with Jean-Marie being shot by a sniper in the shoulder.  Emme, furiously protective of her older sister disintegrated the sniper to ashes as a result.  Jean-Marie eventually recovered, however, the sisters' love for each other and their newfound (UCE propaganda driven) hate they now had against the  Canadian and United States governments fueled the darker side of their souls.  Once Canadian heroes, the two sisters now reveled in killing and maiming anyone who was against the UCE.  Even after the UCE’s grand plan called Project: Gambit, the takeover of New England with nuclear weapons, both sisters considered their actions justified and forthright.

Today, Bonne Fyre and her sister, now codenamed “Emme Pyre”, are two of the most dedicated super-powered members of the UCE and the UCE Enforcers.  So long and Jean-Marie and Emme can be together and free from persecution from the past, they’d consider the UCE as their home and family…no matter the world called Colonel Chanteau aka “Emperor North” and his ‘global terrorist organization’.

On a side note, Jean-Marie eventually went to exact her revenge on the Altona Chemical Company...but that's a story worth telling for another day...

Bonne Fyre has remarkable powers in fire generation, fire blasts, fire breathing, rapid healing, and an unearthly resistance to cold and heat variances.  She can generate a sheath of flame around herself, preventing small arms fire from ever touching her.  She has limited thermal flight, up to a maximum speed of 20 mph, but only as high as 1000 feet in altitude.  She has an incredible healing capability, capable of healing wounds and broken bones, however, should she ever lose a finger or leg, she cannot regrow them.  She is an angry, agitated and cruel young woman who strongly defends the UCE and its troops, while strongly believing in Emperor North’s rhetoric.  The only greater love she has is for her sister, whom she has sworn to protect no matter what ‘from now ‘til eternity’.


Canadian Shield

Christopher Carson

HISTORY

Captain Christopher “Chris” Carson was once a dedicated soldier in the Canadian Army that had earned the unique privilege of operating the Canadian government’s greatest battle armor ever created from Project: Canadian Shield, but today is an expatriated criminal who has instead become one of the greatest supporters of fellow expatriate Colonel Chanteau, leader of the United Canadian Empire and is now considered to be a super-powered global terrorist.

In the late 1990s, Canada had been working on a militarized field combat battle suit for the Canadian Army under Project: Canadian Shield.  The suit underwent years of testing and refinements, but cost increases and power generation were always severely limiting factors while the suit was being developed and engineered.  By 1998, the suit was 400% over budget.  The project was shutdown and the suit was stored in a vault at a military site outside of Ottawa, Canada.  In 2000, the need for the suit was greater than ever before.

In 2000, the Soltan Star Empire invaded Earth, attempting to enslave the human race and pirate the planet’s resources.  For the first several months, the world’s military, governments and super-powered beings fought a hard and losing battle. In the last few weeks of the invasion, new weapons were devised to use against the Soltans, however, to get close enough to them to use the weapons was a factor.  That’s when an engineer from Project: Canadian Shield broke into the vault in Ottawa, recharged the battle armor, modified the suit’s weaponry with the “Soltan Killer” weapons and went out to take down the Soltans.  In the end he killed over 600 Soltan soldiers and took down 10 transport ships and 1 star cruiser (it was already on the ground for maintenance, but he destroyed it on the ground).  Unfortunately, the unnamed engineer died in a final battle outside of Ottowa from an electrical failure, electrically zapping him to death inside the suit.

After the Soltans retreated back into space, the Canadian Shield armor was recovered and taken to another military base.  There, contractors worked for another several years to perfect the battlesuit, once again, having power generation issues in the design.  Finally, several years ago, the battlesuit was ready for field testing with a power generator that was capable of providing 50% of the power needed to run the suit.  The test pilot was Captain Christopher Carson of the Canadian Army. Captain Carson was a war hero of the Soltan Invasion and had even worked under another fellow Canadian war hero, Colonel Chanteau, for a few months during the invasion.  He considered Colonel Chanteau to be a dedicated albeit unusual leader who used every ‘non-military’, ‘non-tactical’ maneuver to defeat the enemy.  As far as Carson was concerned, Chanteau was a genius and a true hero.  Carson volunteered to test pilot the Canadian Shield battlesuit as per Chanteau’s recommendation.

Over the next year or so, Carson helped to test the battlesuit and provide inputs for the engineers and designers.  On the day of the final test, a test that had the deputy prime minister present, Carson was informed that Colonel Chanteau was arrested by the Canadian government for creating a ‘cult of personality’ amidst his ranks and conduct unbecoming an officer.  Carson was shocked over this.  As Carson tried to inquire about the charges, he was ordered to forget about Colonel “Canuklehead” and focus on the final test.  When Carson pressed for more info about Chanteau, Carson was told if he didn’t go out and do his job he’d be court-martialed just like Chanteau.

Carson did not take well to that threat.

During the final test, Carson did NOT do his best; as a matter of fact, he emphasized the weak points of the battlesuit and made it and him look weak and unmanageable.  By the end of the test, Carson’s commander came over to him screaming that he was fired from the project and that he’d be lucky to hold onto his rank before the commander was done with him.  Carson, who had a burgeoning disrespect for others that were not like Chanteau, put the armor away for the night, however, he kept the key to the vault the suit was kept in.  Why he did this, he didn’t know, but his actions would actually lead to a complete reversal of his career and life over the next 24 hours.

That night, Carson went to a military bar outside of city.  There, he overheard a couple of fellow officers talking about Chanteau.  He walked over to them and asked them what the scoop on what happened to Chanteau.  One drink led to another and in a few hours, Carson had learned that over 200 of Chanteau’s men were going to break him out of the military prison.  Carson made the decision to ask to join them.  Since they didn’t know him, they said they appreciated the offer, but they were unsure of his intentions.  Instead, Carson told them about the Canadian Shield battlesuit.  By the time Carson was done describing what the suit could do, he was initiated into the jail break.  They let him know that what he was doing would be considered treason and that he’d be a criminal like the rest.  Carson didn’t care.  As far as he was concerned, the Canadian government taking down a war hero like Chanteau was treason to him. With everyone in agreement, the plan was set and the countdown began.

The next day, Carson was ordered to the commander’s office for a formal reprimand.  Carson was told he’d be sent to a remote base north of Hudson Bay where he, as a Lieutenant, pending forthcoming administrative signatures from the upper echelon of his demotion from Captain, would serve out his remaining service time.  Carson smiled, saluted and acknowledged the conversation. With a perfectly executed about face maneuver, he left the commander’s office and went straight to the Canadian Shield vault.  At the vault, the guards there were told not to admit Carson to the vault.  He said he had personal gear in there and he needed to retrieve it prior to his transfer.  One of the guards said he’d get the gear for him instead.  As the one guard turned to enter the vault, Carson attacked them and knocked them unconscious. He then took the key he kept the night before and opened the vault.  He brought a truck around to the vault and using a loader, loaded the battlesuit, its support equipment and all its plans and data onto the truck.  He then placed the two guards inside the vault and locked it again.  Within minutes, Carson had stolen the Canadian Shield battlesuit, assaulted two fellow army personnel and committed treason of the highest order.

That night, in an old abandoned gas station garage, Carson had recharged and rigged the Canadian Shield armor for battle. At 2300 hours, Chanteau’s men would be at the military prison to break him out.  Carson’s job was to keep a path open for the troops to get in and get out with the Colonel and several other incarcerated followers.  Carson arrived just as the prison break began.  Using his suit’s armor and shield to cover the felonious troops’ actions, Carson made himself a true shield to the jail breakers.   As Chanteau and several others escaped the prison, Carson used the Canadian Shield battlesuit much like a bulldozer, smashing anything and everything in their path.  At the end of the fence line, the troops had vehicles as getaway cars.  Carson had the truck with all the Canadian Shield equipment in it.  He entered the back of the truck, depowerd the suit, exited the suit, tied it down for transport and drove with the jail breaker convoy on side roads to their next destination – Wolfe Island.

After hours of driving, they made their way to Wolfe Island, a location Chanteau used in the Soltan Invasion as a vast munitions and storage depot.  There,

Chanteau and Carson finally met face to face since the invasion.  Chanteau considered Carson a brave hero for what he did and told him it would be an honor to have him join his movement. Carson agreed.

Since then, Carson continues to operate the Canadian Shield battlesuit.  Doctor Phlebotinum, a scientific genius also working with Chanteau, actually created a powerful new generator for the Canadian Shield armor, bringing it to 100% capacity, as well as modified the energy shield and the power distribution system, enhancing the wearer’s fighting abilities. He was then made part of Chanteau’s new world movement, the “United Canadian Empire” and was made a founding member of the militant group’s super-powered team, the “UCE Enforcers”.

A few years ago, Carson in his Canadian Shield battlesuit was part of a master plan to take over all of New England using nuclear weapons as a motivator.  Carson wasn’t too happy over the plan and had some issues with this tactic, however, before he could voice a different, less ‘nuclear’ plan, he was threatened by the UCE Enforcer’s team leader, Enforcer Alpha, who informed Carson that if he didn’t like the way the UCE was doing things, he could leave…without his armor.  Carson since then has been thinking if he made the right choice following Chanteau, now calling himself “Emperor North”.

Today, Carson continues his role as the brutish tank of the UCE Enforcers, however, his heart and soul are in turmoil on whether the UCE was truly revolutionary…or a true terrorist organization.

The Canadian Shield battlesuit enhances the wearer’s capabilities three-fold in fighting, three fold in agility, four-fold in strength and five fold in endurance.  It has a self-contained kinetic engine generator that will continue to power the suit so long as it doesn’t stay idle for over 2 hours.  The armor provides incredible protection for the wearer, and with the amazing energy shield, can block powerful attacks, regardless of if it were physical, energy-based, radiation, heat or cold.  The helmet contains a powerful array of communications equipment, visual sensors, auditory enhancers, aural enhancers and provides incredible protection from damage or attack, including flash attacks or EMP attacks.  It has limited boot rockets that can catapult the battlesuit and wearer up to two thousand feet in altitude at a maximum speed of 600 mph for a maximum duration of 15 minutes.  His suit is also equipped with a built in radar and sonar system, capable to detecting moving objects up to 25 miles away within direct sensor range.  It has been tested to operate satisfactorily in watery depths down to 700 feet deep.


Crimson Crab

Charles Coddly

HISTORY

As a young boy being raised in an Inuit Indian (First People) Reserve in upper Manitoba, Canada, Charles Coddly was constantly harassed and picked-on for his dwarfism.  Being only 4 1/2 feet tall, he was constantly the butt of all jokes and pranks from the local school kids and sometimes even their parents.  As a teenager, he learned how to fight and became quite the scrapper.  His actions eventually got him expelled from school at age 16.  His parents, both alcoholics and living off the state welfare dollar, licked him out of the house days later.  Even his non-dwarfish brothers and sisters derided him right up until he was physically tossed out the from door by their dad.  Alone, poor and suicidal, Charles walked down the snowy roads, sleeping in alleys, in people's garages and basements without permission as well as in dumpsters.  He found a few odd jobs along the way as a short order cook, a janitor and a trash collection man, but none lasted longer than several days once his co-workers or customers made fun of his size...resulting in them being hospitalized thereafter courtesy of Charles.

One night in a bar in the middle of nowhere, Charles overheard a few lumberjacks talking about one of their co-workers signing up for a group called "Eclipse". They said they'd grant any person, no matter what their race, color, creed height or disposition were, either ingrained or technologically-derived superpowers...so long as they work off their bill thereafter.  Charles went up to the men and asked to hear more about "Eclipse" only to be laughed at.  After knocking out two of the lumberjacks with broken beer steins the third one, bloodied and battered, told Charles what he knew and where to find Eclipse.

Over the next few weeks, Charles made his way to Vancouver.  There, according to the only informative lumberjack from weeks before, all one had to do was use duct tape to make a small circle with a larger "O" around the circle on the side of a specific building in midtown...and wait for someone to meet by it late at night.  Charles did just that and at midnight that night, a shadowy figure met Charles.  Within a minute, the shadowy figure took a blood sample, did an eye test, ran some type of scanner across the front Charles body and plucked a hair from his head for a DNA test...all done  on a portable hand device.  When the shadowy figure acknowledged that Charles was "Not the authorities", nor "Biologically incompatible", he gave him a card and told him to arrive at a nearby science lab after 8pm the next day.  The building and business: Zenith Labs.

At 8pm the following night, Charles arrived and was escorted to an underground lab.  There, he met a senior scientist and manager, as well as two super-powered people that did not look friendly.  Over the next few minutes, the scientist and the two super-powered people taunted him, deriding his height and laughing at him.  Charles quickly attacked all three in quick order, however, was stopped by one of the towering super-powered people present.  They all (relatively) apologized for their verbal attacks, citing that it was simply a test. They wanted to see what Charles was made of; was he a pacifist, a fighter, or a schemer.  Charles was labelled a fighter, making the scientist and the two super-powered people in the room quite happy.  

Charles was then taken down another elevator shaft to another room deep underground.  There, futuristic-looking science equipment burgeoned from the walls, ceiling and floor all around him.  Charles was given a paper contract to sign; a contract of over 200 pages thick.  Charles was told over and over again it was just 'policy' and he didn't have to read it.  Charles reluctantly signed it, figuring he'd come this far, what was a paltry contract going to do to him?  As soon as he signed, Charles was injected by several lab assistants with a variety of vaccine-injector guns.  Within seconds, Charles collapsed unconscious from the frugs, antibodies and 'special motion tracker and bomb' they placed in him.

When Charles awoke, he found himself enclosed in a bright red futuristic armor.  Although he was awake, he couldn't move.  Within a minute, the doctor and the two other super-powered people from before arrived, telling Charles the 'transformation' was complete.  Charles, never being asked what he wanted, or what powers he desired, or any details about this super-powering bonding process, spit question after question to them, getting more agitated as he realized he was completely paralyzed from the neck down.

After patiently waiting for Charles to calm down, the scientist told him they'd already grafted a unique cyborg battlesuit to him body.  His legs and arms had to be removed due to their weak nature and were replaced with cyborg attachments.  The battlesuit was grafted to his skin, thus there was no way he could ever remove the armor from below his neck.  Screaming in profound terror, the sadistic threesome that had been with Charles, left.  Charles cried, screamed, tried to move, did everything he could to escape, but to avail.  Twice an hour, he realized the suit was pumping nourishment into his body, feeding him.  Charles eventually passed out from exhaustion and despair.  Each day thereafter, the same three would arrive to talk with Charles only for Charles to go on a tirade of cursing, threatening and quite lewd remarks to the three.  After 10 minutes of hearing this each day, the three would leave and continue the same cycle the next day.  On the 7th day, Charles had finally accepted his condition.  When the three showed up this time, he talked to them with a civil tongue, for which the scientist was more than happy to oblige with detailed information about Charles' 'transformation'.  In addition, the scientist identified that his math over the matter related to Charles working for "Eclipse" for the next 487.5 days to pay off his debt.  Charles was also told of the motion tracker and bomb that was placed inside his body that, should Charles decide to do anything against what was written in the 'contract', he'd be tracked down and killed instantly.

Charles relented to his new role.

The next day, Charles' new body was 100% activated.  Charles now had a heavily armored crimson-red body suit, two titanium blades (one for each gauntlet) and an "Crab Pack".  The Crab pack was a motorized, cerebral-linked set of arms that extended from his back.  The arms could be used in fighting, lifting and even firing energy bolts, as well as explosive devices.  After donning his new helmet, he realized he was in a state-of-the-art combat suit, built exclusively for him and his size.  Charles' mood quickly changed from murderous reckoning with the three to actually happiness (or was it because of something else in the 'nutrition' liquids being pumped into him every 2 hours?).  For the rest of his 'debt work' time, he was to train and operate out of Europe.  He was transported on a stealthy aircraft of which several hours later arrived in Albania.

After training with his new armor and weapons for the next two months (which that time didn't count against his debt), he was introduced to others who'd undergone the same form of conditioning, albeit with radically different powers or abilities.  They all made up "Eclipse".  Eclipse's leader, Crescent, was in charge of assigning, briefing missions and monitoring missions done by those in Eclipse.  Crescent also had the detonator for each Eclipse member's implanted bomb.  The missions were nothing but thefts, robberies, raids, kidnappings and back-up for other teams.  In a year's time Charles performed 289 missions, all of which were 100% successful.  He actually enjoyed being bad, feeling in a small way, he was getting back at those that ridiculed him, however, even in Eclipse, the ridiculing didn't stop.  As it turned out, most of the Eclipse members initially didn't say anything about Charles' diminutive size, but as time went on, he overheard the whispered jokes, saw the caught-in-the-act laughing aimed at him, as well as a few that just liked to poke fun not only at him, but others in Eclipse.  On one mission, Charles encountered the straw that broke the camel's back.

On his 290th mission, he was supposed to provide back-up for a heist in Denmark of a rare super-metal that Zenith wanted.  Unfortunately, several superheroes were guarding the rare super-metal.  A fight ensued, resulting in several Eclipse members fighting the several heroes and over two dozen military troops.  At one point, one of the Eclipse super-strong teammates known as "Major Destruction" picked up Charles by the Crab Pack arms and 'bowled' Charles into several of the military troops, knocking them down like bowling pins.  Major Destruction, as well as the other villains (and even a couple of the superheroes) started laughing over Charles groggily getting up in a comical fashion from his 'bowling ball attack'.

Charles was not amused.

He attacked everyone on the site - hero, military, villain; it didn't matter.  He lost control and went of a rage-fueled attack.  In mere seconds, he took out all the superheroes present, killed the remaining troops, gutted a female member of Eclipse and knocked down Major Destruction.  With Major Destruction on his back still laughing and Charles standing on the Major's chest, Charles shoved his Crab Pack's arms into Major Destruction's mouth...and let loose the energy blasts and explosive devices into his mouth.  Major Destruction did not die that day, however, he was hospitalized for months (and penalized for his debt payment over the same period).  Charles breached the side of his armor with one of his own razor-sharp Crab Pack arms and found what he earlier determined to be the location of the tracker and bomb Eclipse/Zenith had implanted.  Painfully, he pulled out the tracker and bomb and tossed it aside with seconds to spare before the bomb went off, leaving a 12-foot deep crater in the concrete.  He then ripped as a controller he was sure was the on/off switch for the suit.  He found some aluminum foil from a nearby trash can and wrapped the extracted device in a thick layer of the foil.  He then took off and boarded a cargo ship at a nearby port.  He didn't care where it was going, so long as it was away from there.

Days later, he found himself in the Port of New Brunswick, Canada.

Since it was hard for Charles to "blend in" with his grafted battlesuit, he hid in crates, trucks, vans and any other conveyance that got him further down the road to back home. Many weeks later, Charles arrived in his home village.  It was completely destroyed and left  a smoldering crater.

Locals said it was a 'gas leak' (for a town that didn't have a gas main) that created the destruction.  Charles knew better.  It was Zenith and Eclipse.  At one point, Charles, who'd been very careful to remain concealed, didn't for but a moment in fron of his house.  That's when every single active member of Eclipse, all 25 of them, attacked Charles.  They were out for blood, especially the bandaged upper body of the mass that was obviously Major Destruction.  Charles was able to see Major Destruction's crazy and blood-filled eyes from across the block.  Try as he might, Charles did everything he could do to fight them, even taking down two of the Eclipse members before Charles was caught in a crossfire and grounded.  Just as Major Destruction was about to stomp the life out of Charles, a miracle happened.

A band of super-powered beings from the United Canadian Empire arrived on site and started mopping the floor with the attacking Eclipse members.  The UCE's "Enforcers", as they called themselves, led by "Enforcer Alpha" broadcast that this was a live-training mission to test the UCE Enforcers against other super-powered being and the the Enforcers were NOT to be nice about it.  In the end, the UCE Enforcers wiped the ground with the Eclipse members, leaving many broken bodies, but no deaths.  As the UCE Enforcers 'high-fived' each other as the exited the battlefield onto their VTOL Cargo jet, Charles ran up to them and asked if he could go with them.  Enforcer Alpha turned to Charles and said, 'that's why we're here, not only for live-training, but to come get you!  C'mon, climb aboard!".

Charles boarded the plane and made their way up into the air, hovering, when one of the dark and shadowy women of the UCE Enforcers, "Netherbride" teleported the entire cargo jet to a spot several feet above a landing pad at the UCE's base on Wolfe Island nearly half a continent away.

That night, after introductions to "Emperor North" and the rest of the UCE and UCE Enforcers, Charles was asked if he wanted to come work and live with the UCE.  All they wanted was for his teamwork and support and in return, they'd be happy to ensure that there was a world free of prejudice towards dwarfs or First People in the world.  When Charles asked how that was going to happen, Enforcer Alpha simply replied, 'because...anyone that derides or ridicules you or anyone else like you will be automatically sentenced to death, by order of the Emperor himself".  With that, Charles agreed to join them and was given the knew code-name of "Crimson Crab".

Since then, Charles has worked side by side with the UCE.  He's not a big fan of their politics, but it is the only place he feels like he belongs.  The UCE was even good enough to carry out one of Charles' greatest desires since joining the UCE: kill the rest of his sisters and brothers, take their burned bodies and the bodies of his already dead parents and mix their ashes with cyanide gas and drop it all in the ventilation system of the Vancouver Eclipse/Zenith building. As it turned out, the Zenith building hours after Charles' wish was performed, was said to have imploded and collapsed on itself from what Zenith authorities later called a result of 'poor workmanship'.

Crimson Crab is a cyborg in a grafted battlesuit.  His cyborg implants provide for excellent fighting skills, remarkable agility, excellent strength and incredible endurance.  The armor provides remarkable protection for any form of attack, as well as incredible protection from heat, cold and radiation.  His titanium blades on his gauntlets can be jettisoned if required, but normally, when affixed and used in combat, can remarkably rend steel or lesser strength materials.  His "Crab Pack" is electrically linked to Charles brain's neural system, allowing for split-second reactions of each of the four arms.  Each arm can operate independently. Each arm is incredibly strong forged steel, with a razor-sharp tipped cone on the end of each arm.  Each arm can life an excellent amount of weight, can fire up to 20 exceptionally powerful explosive devices and can also shoot a total of 20 energy blaster shots from each arm before the blaster battery dies.  His helmet contains a full array of communications equipment, visual and audible sensors and excellent protection from any form of electronics attack, flash grenades or blinding attacks.  It also has night vision capabilities.  The suit is powered by a dynamo generator that can provide 100% power for up to 10 days before it needs to be recharged, or longer for less of a percentage of power use. His boots have small thrusters, allowing the Crimson Crab to propel himself through the water at speeds up to 35 knots for only 1/2 hour energy charge..

 


Doctor Phlebotinum

Eugene Hazard/Dr. David R. Phlebotinum

HISTORY 

If ever there was an evil engineering genius with a "Snydly Whiplash" mentality and a steampunk fetish, Eugene Hazard as "Dr. Phlebotinum" would be him.

In 1975, Eugene was born to his two eccentric and rich British parents in London, England.  Silver spoon lifestyle, exclusive private schools and high-end science and engineering tutors made up all of Eugene's youth. As such, he was a geek when 'geek' was a 4-letter word in society.  He was ostracized and demeaned for his brilliance and education.  As a result, Eugene always 'turned the other cheek', allowing his anger to build up inside of him rather than find an outlet, creative or otherwise, to release his anger. By age 15, his IQ was immeasurable, with him building and creating new devices and applying new theories and test models on a weekly basis at his prep school  His love for Jules Verne, H.G. Wells, H. Rider Haggard, George Griffith, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Garrett P. Serviss, Edgar Allan Poe, Mark Twain and Edgar Rice Burroughs, who were themselves inspired by the likes of Charles Babbage, Thomas Edison, Nikola Tesla, inspired Eugene to create most of his designs with a Victorian-era "Steampunk" flair to them.  As such, his peers never took him seriously and found ways to demean him.  For several students, one too many times was enough.

After developing a flapping winged backpack that was actually able to lift a standard-sized person aloft over 40 feet in altitude for several minutes at a time, several students decided to play a prank on him.  They set up a school rally where he, Eugene Hazard, would be the focus of showing off his 'winged backpack' before the school, as well as several business entrepreneurs (very rich parents of other students at the school).  The event was hyped to a fever pitch for which Eugene thought that his day of being recognized as a brilliant genius had finally arrived.  As the auditorium filled to capacity, Eugen prepared his winged backpack for the demonstration.  One of Eugene's 'conditions' he always had was a small bladder; as such, he went to use the restroom before his demonstration.  That's when several very cruel pranksters literally 'gummed up the work' of Eugene's Winged backpack by placing wads of bubblegum in the gears and mechanisms in the internal mechanisms of the backpack.  As Eugene finished his business, he was called to the auditorium, without time to do an addition check on his equipment, feeling more confident than he'd ever felt in his life, he slung on his winged backpack and started it up.  He intended to fly into the auditorium with the winged backpack; the results, however were far worse.

As Eugene started flying into the packed auditorium, the pranksters' gum got stuck in the gearing of Eugene's backpack. Eugene lost control of one of his mechanical wings and started flying out of control with only one wing flapping wildly, Eugene tried desperately to regain control of his winged backpack only to crash onto the auditorium stage.  His backpack blew open with springs, gears and oil gushing out of the back in an almost cartoonish manner.  The entire auditorium erupted in uncontrollable laughter. 

Eugene was embarrassed before the entire student body and before the entrepreneurs he was trying to impress.

Eugene stood up screaming at them to stop laughing, but the animated gears falling out of his back, the oil squirting atop Eugene's head and continued flapping of the one pseudo-operational wing just made him look even more comical.  Instead, the auditorium roared even louder in laughter, drowning out Eugene's demand for them to stop laughing at him.  He instead walked off the stage in shameful disgust...and anger.

In his workshop later than night Eugene found the gum in his winged backpack.  He'd been sabotaged.  He remembered a handful of his fellow students hanging out in the hall near the room he and the winged backback were in when he went to use the restroom.  They were the same one's who gave him grief and derided him daily.  He deduced they were the ones responsible for 'gumming up' his big day.  Revenge became Eugene's focus. Over the next week, Eugene skipped school completely, spending that time to repair his winger backpack and create several more 'devices' to get even with those that made a fool out of him.  The following week, he returned to school to exact his revenge.  Little did he know that his actions would pave his future in so dark a tone.

The night before he went back to school, Eugene went to the cafeteria and did some 'modifications' to certain things at the school. The next morning he arrived at school, bringing his flight backpack with him...as well as several new inventions in his book bag.  Throughout the morning, Eugene was made the butt of every joke that day, with his fellow students laughing at him in class in the hallways about his comedic entrance the week before with that 'stupid looking' set of wings.  At lunchtime, Eugene gather his book bag, put on a flashy Victorian-era set of gentlemanly clothes and strapped into his remodeled winger backpack and entered the cafeteria for the last time ever.

In the private school's cafeteria, Eugene calmly walked to the center of the cafeteria and got everyone's attention. He then explained that he despised every one of his fellow students and that he was a genius compared to anyone else in the school, including the faculty.  Other students began to enter the cafeteria to hear Eugene's speech, including some faculty that were motioning Eugene to stop.  Instead, Eugene stated that from that day forth, no one would ever forget the name of Eugene Hazard, as he fired up his winged backpack, hovering a dozen feet in the air in the vast cafeteria and clicked a remote control.  The remote controlled activated powerful magnetic devices placed on the edges of each door and window pane in the cafeteria.  All the doors and windows closed, sealing in all those in the cafeteria. As other started to panic, Eugene donned a gas mask and started throwing toxic gas canisters amongst those trapped in the cafeteria.  He then threw deadly electrically-charged bolos and grenades at the fleeing students, electrifying, stunning...and killing them.  As the students attempted to get through the impenetrable magnetically closed and locked doors, Eugene then took out his "Myriad Gun" and started shooting the students and faculty with a variety of projectiles, ranging from acid bombs to scorpion grenades (explosive grenades that launched dozens of darts tipped with powerful scorpion venom), as well as 'sticky bombs', designed to look and smell like gum, but was a solution that when exposed to air, expanded and enveloped anyone within a 5 foot radius, smothering them or immobilizing them.  To add insult to injury, he had two 'squirt cannons' on his winged backpack that shot a caustic, poisonous oil out onto the floor and students, making them slip, fall and burn.  Eugene was laughing maniacally the entire time as the terror grew each passing second.

In the end, several minutes later, nearly 70% of the students and faculty in the cafeteria lay dead before Eugene, with the rest dying or severely wounded or immobilized.  With a press of a button, the cafeteria doors magnetically reversed, blasting the doors off their hinges allowing Eugene to fly out of the cafeteria, down the hall and out into the courtyard, leaving his school behind him in absolute anarchy and death.

Over the next few hours, London police, Scotland Yard and Interpol were working in unison attempting to track down and capture the mass murderer that was Eugene Hazard.  After raiding his parent's stately manor and finding nothing more than a note telling his parents he wasn't sorry for what he had done, the police started a manhunt for him.  After weeks of searching, no leads were found.  The only other thing that was discovered about Eugene was that he emptied out his parent's bank accounts of millions of Pounds, leaving them destitute.  Placed on Interpol's top 10 list for capture, Eugene only laughed from afar as he stepped off a passenger liner in Halifax, Nova Scotia in New Brunswick, Canada under the false name of "Doctor David Russel Phlebotinum", where he'd applied and was accepted as a new faculty member at the Halifax University. 

Years later, Eugene, now "Dr. Phlebotinum", who'd been teaching in Halifax throughout those years, used his spare time in crafting and engineering incredible machines and devices.  He even ventured into cloning in an attempt to replicate himself should he die one day.  Using his parent's millions of Pounds/Dollars, Eugene soon created him own lab.  He started getting grants for (according to him) 'stupid studies' about the environment and population control, for which he'd devised results within hours of the grant funding, using the grant money for his diabolical engineering and devices.

In the 1990s, after selling dozens of patents for him 'lesser' quality engineered items, he'd grown to a considerable wealth...but wanted more.  He convinced himself to start engineering weapons and unique combat devices since sales for such things on the black market were gaining in value.  As such, he devised several incredible weapons for villainous organizations.  As a result, the United States' CIA came into the picture, more to the point, Agent John Brown known as the legendary "Major Invader".  Within weeks of selling his unique weapons, Major Invader outed Dr. Phlebotinum for who he really was and had him arrested for illegal arms dealing and making weapons of mass destruction.  Eugene's past caught up with him and he was also to be tried in Britain for mass murder under extradition. During Eugene's transit to Britain for trial, he engaged one of his contingency plans that broke him out of jail.   Now free, Eugene decided to get revenge on Agent John Brown for incarcerating him...all the while making back his million of dollars in the process.

In his time in incarceration, Eugene heard again and again about Agent Brown and his history of capturing, arresting and stopping hundreds of fellow inmates.  A comment made by a long-time prisoner, placed in prison by Agent John Brown in the 1950s, said that he knew people that would love to have 'a younger version of Major Invader working for them in their syndicates', considering Brown to be the 'ultimate' natural weapon one could have in their arsenal.  This got Eugene to thinking about what he could do if was ever able to clone Agent Brown body to that of a younger version of the current Brown, that was instead able to be programmed and/or controlled.  Even better...what if he built an entire army of Agent Browns and sold them off to the highest bidders?  With that idea fomenting in his head, after his escape from jail, Eugene set upon his diabolical plan to clone Agent Brown.

After his escape from jail, Eugene made his way to Europe and using some of the hidden millions of dollars he'd absconded, set about creating a cloning lab.  He paid off a disgruntled CIA operative to steal Agent Brown's latest brain scan (used by Major Brown as a 'work in progress' to test a unique set of headgear that would prevent him from being mind controlled). Using this and a strand of Agent Brown's hair, Eugene cloned hundreds of Agent John Brown bodies, all with a Tabula Rasa of a brain that Eugene would later 'download' a changed version of Brown's brain scans that would be controllable, thus allowing Brown's innate skills, experiences, memories and knowledge to be used by the clone for whatever evil purposes  the buyers chose to use it for.  Using an accelerate cloning system, within months, Eugene has successfully grew over 90% of his clones into a 22 year-old version of Agent Brown.  he then upload the modified and rewritten brain scans and finally implanted a fail-safe device in the head of each of his clones - a small remotely-triggered bomb...just in case the clone or clones got out of control.

The day finally came for the great Clone Auction.  Eugene had advertised all across the criminal community about the Clone Auction, amassing hundreds of buyers interested in what he had to sell.  That day, Eugene, again wearing a Victorian-era gentleman's suit and a mask (since he was still a wanted man) with a cheesy twirled mustache, provided a field demonstration of the clones' capabilities in fighting, close-in combat, marksmanship, ingenuity, troubleshooting and tactical combat operations against programmed robots Eugene had built. By the time the auction was completed, every single clone was sold, amassing for Eugene a total of over $50 Billion. As the buyers were given the codes (allowing access to their new clone's remote brain-implanted control device and bomb activation), everything that could go wrong did.

Each of the clone's heads suddenly exploded in a spray of gore, blood and brain matter.  Buyers were covered in the splatter from the exploding bombs in the clone's heads.  Nearly all of the clones died as a result of this (see Master Marauder, Liberator and Agent West for more details).  As Eugene was trying to figure out what happened, Agent Brown/Major Invader appeared on the scene.  He fought nearly all of the buyers, their bodyguards and Eugene (as well as some others...see previous three links for more details).  In the end, Agent Brown was victorious.  Not only was he able to capture hundreds of international criminal buyers and arms dealers in the auction raid, but was responsible for activating the explosive charges in each of the clones made to be like him (with the exception of the three listed earlier).  To add insult to injury to Eugene, who was also arrested, the $50 billion he'd 'earned' from the auction had mysteriously been drained from his bank account.  By the time Eugene was tried, convicted and ordered to serve five consecutive life sentences, the CIA had frozen Eugene's remaining assets (not the $50 billion; only one person knew what happened to that), closed down several other secret labs, retrieved the clone technology (and vaulted it), and disassociated all of Eugene's money-making patents as 'open source' rights material (with the exception of weapons patents; Agent Brown took personal custody of all those).  All seemed pretty much over for Dr. Phlebotinum at this stage, however, fate once again allowed Eugene yet another chance to be the dubious inventive engineer he'd become.

During the Soltan Star Empire Invasion of Earth in 2000, Eugene's prison was attacked.  As a result, Eugene and hundreds of other high-security inmates were able to escape their prison.  Eugene made off to a remote location in Canada where he slowly started to amass new materials, some from the Soltans themselves, and started devising new inventions and devices.  Although revenge was still heavy on his mind, he knew he had to survive the invasion and build up his new plans in order to get even for all who disgraced him...especially Agent John Brown/Major Invader.

The Soltans were routed from their invasion several months later and Earth began to rebuild from the destruction of the invaders. As such, many villainous factions also started rebuilding for their own evil purposes.  Dr. Phlebotinum quickly became the 'go to' guy for underground weapons designs, manufacturing and device creation.  Operating out of an old abandoned saw mill in northern Alberta province in Canada, Eugene created drones and robots to do all the work while he tinkered, created and designed hundreds of new and unique weapons.  In a short time, Eugene had amassed close to a billion dollars.  As a result, the authorities started hunting for him again.  After several close calls at his hidden manufacturing facilities, he was finally beginning to realize he needed a place to set up shop where he'd never be interrupted, allowing him to continue several new futuristic designs he'd gleaned from the Soltans.  In 2005, that opportunity came when a certain Canadian jailed "hero" was broken out of prison; the 'hero's' name - Colonel Chanteau aka Emperor North.

After hearing of Colonel Chanteau's escape, Eugene decided to break into the Canadian and United States satellite stations and perform an algorithmic-derived search pattern for the Colonel.  It didn't take but a minute to find Chanteau on a remote island off the US/Canadian border - Wolfe Island. Eugene learned that the Colonel was a resourceful and influential man, but was a tactical zero who kept himself and his troops alive during the Soltan Invasion more due to luck than education, training or skill.  Eugene believed Chanteau just might be the right fool to allow Eugene to continue his work, all the while making Chanteau and his troops believe that he (Eugene) was instead doing the work for them and their ignorant revolutionary movement. A day later, Dr. Phlebotinum introduced himself to Colonel Chanteau on Wolfe Island and offered up his engineering and inventive skills to support Chanteau's revolution.  Chanteau agreed and thus started an 'alliance' as far as Eugene was concerned and a 'new friendship' as far as Chanteau was concerned.

After their alliance was established, Eugene had his work cut out for him.  The old dilapidated base Chanteau decided to hole up in had outdated 1960s technology, infrastructure and electrical systems that needed a complete and utter overhaul.  As such, whatever Eugene needed, he gave the list to Chanteau who promptly sent his troops (some super-powered) out across the United States, Canada or other locations around the world to get whatever it was that Eugene needed.  In addition to building up the facility and getting it to become a powerful self-sufficient manufacturing and military base, Eugene worked long hours into the night devising one of his greatest inventions - the Force Field Generator.  Over time, he successfully tested the "FF Gen" as he called it in secret.  No one knew of his design, however, Eugene ensured its availability and use from a defensive means by having his drones and robots build several FF Gens all around Wolfe Island.  Eventually, the day came when the world discovered Chanteau's base.  The United States and Canada, although angry with each other over who's authority the raid was to be led by, attacked Wolfe Island with Marines, aircraft and naval shore bombardments...none of which ever harmed a square inch of Wolfe Island.  Eugene activated his FF Gens just as the allied nations attacked Wolfe Island resulting in Wolfe Island being completed protected by an enormous series of overlapping force field domes.  As the allies fired more and larger weapons as the force field, it strengthened all the more, due to the kinetic energy design Eugene incorporated.  The more devastating the attack on the force field, the stronger it got. Eventually, both the United States and Canadian forces withdrew to a safe distant from Wolfe Island after Eugene's missiles and weapons systems delivered a heavy black eye to the allied war machines, sinking ships and obliterating warplanes and drones.

Over the next few years, Eugene continued his engineering and designs, including equipment that helped replenish the air under the FF Gen domes and equipment needed for crop production and harvesting for the Chanteau's new "United Canadian Empire" movement.  Eugene also participated actively as a founding member of Chanteau's super-powered team, the "UCE Enforcers", especially during the UCE's Operation: Gambit gamble.  Eugene had created more protable (could be loaded in trucks) versions of his FF Gens that was vital for taking over all of New England in an attempt to expand the UCE's real estate from Wolfe Island to land grab the United States' technology-heavy industry on the east coast.  Although the gambit failed, many realized that Dr. Phlebotinum was as much a terrorist and international threat as was Chanteau, who now took to calling himself "Emperor North".

Since then, Eugene has continued created and designing new weapons, technologies and engineered applications for his designs.  He's even created wrist-mounted FF Gens for Emperor North to use himself on his armor.  As the Wolfe Island base continues to grow as a self-sufficient militant manufacturing base for the UCE, Eugene has also been busy working on new futuristic designs and plans (of course designing them with a Steampunk flair) that not even Emperor North knows of.  One day soon, according to Eugene, he'll be the man in charge of Earth and as the ruler of all especially all those that ever opposed or oppressed him...especially Agent Brown/Major Invader...

Dr. Phlebotinum is an incredible genius with amazingly strong inventive and engineering skills.  He can devise and create new weapons designs in 1/50th of the time a normal engineer could.  Although a normal human being in his 40s, he has a flair for Steampunk style, design and Victorian-era clothing.  He considers the steampunk designs and flourishes on each of his engineered inventions, devices and designs as his own personal 'signature'.  He carries a wide variety of weapons, however, his most notable ones are his two remarkable 'ray-gun' energy blasters, his heavily modified winged backpack (can fly up to 100 mph at a max altitude of 1500 feet for over 10 hours before the backpack's kinetic charge wears off), as well as his own set of wrist-mounted FF Gens that can create amazingly strong force fields, as well as projecting force beams producing an excellent level of force damage.  His hat is a menagerie of neurally-controlled remote operations devices for drones, weapons, explosives and alarms.  He is able to communicate on nearly any frequency in existence, and when wearing his goggles, can see in every spectrum including X-Ray. He has auditory implants in his ears providing an excellent form of sonic attacks protection.  He also wears upper body armor of incredibly strong material, while only lining his arms, pants and boots with typical protective materials.  Several other types of weapons Dr. Phlebotinum has carried on his person as excellently strong flash grenades, acid grenades, poison frag dart grenades, an incredibly powerful immobilizing goop cannon (housed in shoulder unit of the winged backpack) with a range of 20 yards, several vials of 'Goop B Gone' goop solvent, an amazingly powerful ECM device that can shut down all forms of electronic weapons (except his) for up to 500 yards from his location and a Steampunk-stylized covered sky-cycle that he'll occasionally use when he doesn't feel like flying in the rain or inclement weather.

 


Emme Pyre

Emily "Emme" Fyrette

HISTORY 

Emme Fyre is a young super-powered woman who, along with her older sister Jean-Marie (Bonne Fyre), gained her fiery powers from the evil actions of greedy businessmen, as well as beaten as a child, lived on the streets for years, almost became a young Canadian teen superhero and has since turned to evil as a member of the villainous United Canadian Empire.

When Emily was only 7, she lived with her family on an expansive tract of land just outside the town of Blackpool, located just across the Canadian side of the U.S./Canadian border.  Her father was a shady businessman in Montreal, Quebec who was rarely home and quite abusive.  Her mother was an abused, broken woman.  Jean-Marie’s older sister, Jean-Marie, was her best friend as they grew up together.   Most of the kids in school made fun of the two of them, since Jean-Marie had red hair and Emme had black hair.  The playground derision only strengthened their sisterly bond all the more.

One Saturday afternoon Emme followed Jean-Marie out into the woods to an old well that their father had vehemently told them to never go near.  When she got to the well, Emme saw several vehicles, four of which were tanker trucks with “Altona Chemical Company” emblazoned on the side, all around the old well.  Jean-Marie was held dangling over the open well be a brutish man, threatening to drop her into the well where they’d been dumping awful smelling chemicals in.  Emme ran at the man holding her sister over the well and beat on his legs telling her to let her sister go.

The mean-looking Altona Chemical Company man did just that; let Jean-Marie go.  Jean-Marie dropped into the deep well, screaming and splashing.  The same evil Altona Chemical Company man then picked up and threw Emme down the same well.  Emme struck her head on the wall of the well on the way down and was knocked unconscious. 

When Emme awoke, she was in a hospital room with her sad (and beaten) faced mother sobbing yet happy to see Emme awake.  Emme was told that something happened at the well that caused a fiery explosion that burned dozens of acres behind the well and that Jean-Marie was believed to be the cause of it. She was told Jean-Marie was in a separate ward and was ok, but still in a coma, just as Emme had been for weeks up until then.  The doctors mentioned she wasn’t burned or hurt (no broken bones, etc.), however, Emme was found near the outside of the well unconscious, along with Jean-Marie, partially covered in a gelatinous ooze that no one could assess what it was.  She was told that she’d caught fire when a policeman tried to get her to the hospital, but after wrapping her in a fire retardant blanket, the flames went out.  After arriving at the hospital, they found no burns at all on her body and said the ‘ooze’ must have been flammable yet didn’t burn Emme’s skin.

After an additional day in the hospital, Emme was released to her parents.  Her father was more angry than she’d ever seen.  He kept beating on the steering wheel the whole ride back to the house muttering ‘I told them not to go to the well’ and ‘how am I going to pay for all this?’, as well as a cryptic “Damn Altona.  How could they do this to me?”, for which Emme had no idea what his mutterings truly meant.

At home, Emme had fitful nights trying to sleep.  The nightmares grew worse of her and Jean-Marie being thrown down the well.  On the fourth night home, Emme awoke to her bed being completely on fire, with her engulfed in the flames, yet she herself wasn’t burning.  Her father came into the room with a fire extinguisher and put the fire out.  He quickly grabbed up Emme, yelling at her and shaking her like a rag doll demanding why she set her bed on fire.  Emme had no answers and was beaten and slapped for her ignorance.  Her mother attempted to intervene only to get back-handed and told to ‘get smart’ and ‘get him a beer’ or she’d “get it worse than ever”.  She was told to sleep outside in a sleeping bag in an old camping tent, however, the next night, that too went up in flames.  Her father struck her several more times demanding what was wrong with her to stupidly burn the sleeping bag and tent that he paid for out of his own hard earned money.  Each time Emme was struck, she became bruised, however by morning each time, she was no longer bruised and looked like she’d never been hit or abused.

This angered the father even more.

He started beating on Emme each night, all the while the mother sat off to the side crying and doing nothing to stop the abuse.  One night, the day before Jean-Marie awoke from her coma, while Emme was being beaten by her father, a fiery sheath enveloped around Emme’s body.  It burned her clothes and when the father tried to grab at her, he almost burned his hands.  Instead, he took a 2x4 board and started beating her, calling her a devil and a freak.  He beat her so bad, Emme had broken bones, a concussion and severe internal injuries.  The father dragged Emme with a chain into his shed where he’d piled a bunch of rocks and threw her burning body on top of that.  He shackled Emme to one of the rocks (burning himself a few times in doing so, getting angrier and more agitated each time) to prevent her from getting away, for which Emme was so broken and beaten, she was incapable of movement nonetheless ‘running away’.  The father then went back to the house and instead beat on his wife for another hour until he fell asleep in his chair with a bottle of Yukon Jack in his hand.

When Emme awoke next, she saw Jean-Marie trying to free her from the shackles and the rock.  Emme saw a shirtless, burned, angry father advance towards them as Jean-Marie miraculously used similar fire powers to melt the chain binding Emme.   Jean-Marie then tried to grab for Emme, but Jean-Marie’s hands were still on fire.  Jean-Marie seemed fearful of burning her sister and instead turned on their advancing father, screaming at him to stay away.  As he quicken his pace and sported his ‘I’m going to beat you to death’ facial expression, Jean-Marie held out her hands and told him to stop.  A shaft of flames flew from Jean-Marie’s hands and engulfed her father from head to toe. 

Jean-Marie had fire powers too.

The burning father continued to advance, slowing with each step until he fell to the ground mere inches from them. 

He was no longer moving.

He was dead.

Crying tears of steam, Jean-Marie motioned to Emme to come with her.  They both navigated around the still burning corpse of their father and broke into a run to where their mother laid on the ground.  Once they made it to their mother, Emme quickly realized she was already dead.  Blood was seeping into the ground from under the mother’s head and the lifeless eyes and terminal scared expression left on their mother’s face was all that was left for them to remember her by.

Both Jean-Marie and Emme ran.

They both ran until they could run no more which was at least three miles out of town and into the woods.  There, Emme and Jean-Marie embraced in a tearful reunion; a reunion that was the only bright spot in their lives since the incident at the well.  Right then, Jean-Marie swore to Emme she’d never again let anything happen to her and that she’d always be there for her until eternity.

Over the next few years, the two girls grew up on the street as homeless urchins.  They walked from town to town, heading north each time, trying to find a way to survive another day.  They ate from dumpsters and trash cans.  They begged for food on the street corners. They slept in alleyways and inside other people’s cars, always leaving before anyone found them there.  This went on until Jean-Marie was 15 and Emme was 13.  As teenagers, both their lives took another turn; one very bad, one very good.

During their five years on the street, both girls learned the extent of their new powers.  Jean-Marie’s powers were stronger and ranged, while Emme’s were more close-in and less intense.  They quickly realized that the fires they generated from their own willpower did not burn or hurt them, or each other.  Both never needed to warm themselves by a fire since both were able to generate enough internal heat to always stay arm, regardless of how cold it was during the harsh Canadian winters.  They learned to master their powers over time, but, as with all learning, there were stumbling points.  Sometimes they set things on fire unintentionally, but soon found they could also control fires within meters of their bodies and as such were able to extinguish flames as well as create them.  As such, a local homeless man caught both Jean-Marie and Emme practicing their powers one night and told them they had a ‘special gift’.  Jean-Marie was quick to explain her powers were given to her by evil men rather than a gift.  In their ensuing discussions, Jean-Marie felt comfortable enough to tell the homeless man what happened to them.  When she told the homeless man about Altona Chemical Company, he bristled with anger.  He told the girls that “ACC”, as he called them,  was under investigation for multiple infractions of dumping chemicals illegally all across Canada, however, some ‘legal eagle’ known as Seth Jenkins had exonerated ACC over the years.  The homeless man knew for a fact ACC was dumping chemicals in a river he’d been sleeping near a few years ago. When the homeless man went to the police about it, they arrested the homeless man and promised to free him if he kept his mouth shut.  As the homeless man continued about the ACC’s additional atrocities he’d seen on TV since then, Emme saw Jean-Marie’s mood darken.  Jean-Marie wanted to make ACC pay for doing what they did to the both of them.  Emme agreed, but was still too uneducated to understand what ACC had truly done; she thought it was just the evil man who’d dropped them in the well, not ACC.  Regardless, her sister, Jean-Marie wanted revenge.

The next day, they bought bus tickets with the little money they had and went back to their hometown of Blackpool, where, according to Jean-Marie, they’d both cross the border into the United States through the woods and obliterate ACC once and for all; especially the man that dropped both of them down into the well.  Hearing that, Emme was excited to get even with the ‘evil man from the well’. In Blackpool, the sisters got off the bus and walked down familiar roads that once rode bikes on years before.  Without realizing it, they’d walked right up to their old home which was now abandoned and decrepit.  Curiosity being what it was, they climbed through the property’s rickety old fence and made their way into the old house.  They both climbed the stairs to their old rooms.  Wallpaper was moldy and peeling; the floors were warped and water soaked from a fiery hole in the roof above Emme’s bed.  Yet amidst the deplorable conditions, they both enjoyed those few moments reminiscing about a childhood that could have been better than anything since the well.  Jean-Marie found one of Emme’s old teddy bears in the corner of a closet and gave it to Emme.  Emme hugged it remembering it was her favorite toys.  Although the teddy bear was musty and dirty, Emme hugged it as if it were family.

That’s when the sisters met their old home’s current squatters; a band of teenage meth-heads.

What started as a friendly “who are you?” questions quickly catapulted into a gang rape.  As the girls were immobilized, Emme and Jean-Marie looked across the floor at each other, smiled at each other and both burst into flames.  Using their powers as if they were veterans, they quickly scorched each of their assailants, scattering them around the room.  One teenage meth-head boy took out a gun to shoot Jean-Marie only for Jean-Marie to burn him into a pile of ash.  As each of the other meth-heads scrambled to escape the room, the sisters both slowly got up and walked as flaming figures down the stairs after them right down into the basement.  There, the meth-heads had set up a meth lab, with barrels of dangerous and explosive chemicals all around.  As the meth-heads tried to escape through the back door, Jean-Marie shot a length of flame ahead of them, blocking their escape.  When the meth-heads pulled out their knives and guns to attack the sisters, again, both looked at each other and ‘fired it up’, causing the entire house to blow into pieces and sending the roof shooting into the sky over 20 stories high before it came crashing back down.  Both Jean-Marie and Emme walked from the blazing debris that was once their home, unscathed, albeit naked.  Neither had yet found clothes that were ‘fire retardant’ enough for them to not burn through.

As the police and fire department arrived, the girls, using their street-living skills, made off with clothes from a neighbors wash line in their backyard, took some shoes from another house’s car and hoodies from another house’s mud room.  Even though both sisters could have extinguished the flames of their old burning house, they instead left it to be extinguished by the firemen instead.

As luck, or perhaps, fate, would have it, the house was being watched by a Canadian Drug Enforcement Group.  Surprised at what the agents had seen and recorded, they called in two Canadian superheroes to stop and interrogate the two girls.  The two Canadian superheroes intercepted the girls just as they were about to cross into the United States by way of an old game trail in the nearby woods.  The two Canadian superheroes asked the girls nicely to come back with them to explain what happened at the house.  The girls were very nervous and afraid they’d get arrested, for which the two Canadian superheroes promised they would not be arrested, regardless of the outcome.  At a government border crossing station, the sisters, the two Canadian superheroes and several Canadian Drug Enforcement agents sat down and talked while providing the girls with the first normal meal they’ve had in years.  The girls gave the authorities a fake last name they’d used on the streets; Fyrette.  After a couple hours of discussions and some guarded responses as to the sister’s parentage and if they knew who the house once belonged to, the authorities held a meeting with another few government officials.  The resultant: the Canadian government wanted to ask the girls to volunteer to help create a new superhero team for Canada.  After some discussion and concerns, the girls, who had nowhere else to go, accepted the offer.  As a result, Jean-Marie was placed into the superhero training program immediately, while Emme, who’s education level was far below the norm, needed a proper public education and schooling before she’d be ready for her role as a superhero (plus, according to the Canadian superhero group’s leader, Emme was too young to be a superhero at that time).  Things were now looking up for the sisters.  They had a roof over their heads, three meals a day, clean clothes, cool new superhero costumes and a future; a future that would soon make a diabolical direction change.

For about a year, Jean-Marie worked side by side (as a sidekick) with a few new Canadian superheroes.  Emme, on the other hand, had private teachers, tutors and a lot of attention to her needs. She was happier now than she’d ever been.  Her sister, Jean-Marie, in her new teenage superhero role, had actually helped save hundreds of people from fires, terrorists and natural disasters during that year.  Jean-Marie even got her new codename: Bonne Fyre; Emme, however, was still too untrained to receive a coveted codename at that time.

Weeks before Emme was to don her new superhero costume and join the superhero ranks, Jean-Marie and Emme were outed as the two children that purportedly killed their father (according to a terrible police investigation) and their mother at their original home years before.  Both sisters were charged with using false identities (from using the Fyrette last name) as well.  Both were also blamed for the well fire that occurred on their property and the acres of woods that were set afire as a result, a fire that (both girls had learned for the first time) resulted in burning down several neighboring homes (and some government 'secret' monitoring towers).  Before the girls could even defend themselves, the media got a hold of the story, spouting the government was training ‘little murdering teenage girls’ as superheroes, citing public outcry that the girls should be immediately arrested for their parents’ murders.  Emme was taken that night to foster care center, while her sister Jean-Marie was placed under ‘house arrest’ pending review of their testimony. For the first time in years, both Jean-Marie and Emme were separated from each other.  At the Foster Care Center, Emme was treated like a criminal and placed in a separated, guarded wing of the center.  Alone and scared, Emme cried herself to sleep, hoping for a miracle to save them from this unfair fate.

That night, a relatively nice, yet darkly clad militant of a man called Colonel Chanteau, along with three dozen United Canadian Empire (UCE) troops, a dark mysterious ghostly woman called “Netherbride” and Emme’s sister, Jean-Marie wearing her Bonne Fyre hero costume, arrived at Emme’s Foster Care Center and ‘liberated’ Emme from the Center’s ‘uncaring clutches’, as Colonel Chanteau put it.  All of them were ‘teleported’ by the mysterious Netherbride lady to Colonel Chanteau’s base on Wolfe Island, just off the Atlantic Coast near the U.S./Canadian border between Maine and New Brunswick.  Both Jean-Marie and Emme were given their own rooms and told to take all the time they needed to talk and discuss their next actions.  Jean-Marie said she’d met the Colonel on a mission the night before.  The Colonel was a famous Canadian war hero that had helped save the world from the invading alien Soltan Star Empire when they invaded Earth in 2000.  Colonel Chanteau had been ostracized by the Canadian government and was arrested for trying to take care of his troops.  His troops broke him and a few others out of jail and have since started a movement and a new order calling themselves the “United Canadian Empire”.  According to Jean-Marie, Colonel Chanteau wanted nothing more than for the two sisters to live a life free of persecution and bureaucracy. He offered them to stay with him and his troops on Wolfe Island and maybe help them by joining with their own super-powered team, the UCE Enforcers. After the long discussion, Jean-Marie and Emme decided to stay with Colonel Chanteau for the next two weeks and see if they what he said was true.  It didn’t take but one week for the sisters to freely join with Colonel Chanteau and the UCE.

During that first week, Jean-Marie and Emme were hunted like rabid dogs by both the Canadian and United States governments.  They were cited as ‘criminals’ and 'converted terrorists'; lethal force was authorized to subdue both Emme and Jean-Marie.  The sisters were dumbfounded that they were being treated this way.  After several generous gestures from Chanteau, both sisters gladly decided to join the UCE and Chanteau’s UCE Enforcers. 

Over time, both sisters grew to like their new UCE family.  They felt like a real family for the first time ever, with Chanteau being the kindly 'father figure'.  Eventually, the sisters went on missions with the UCE, only to be shot at several times by Canadian and U.S. troops, one time with Jean-Marie being shot by a sniper in the shoulder.  Emme, furiously protective of her older sister, disintegrated the sniper to ashes as a result.  Jean-Marie eventually recovered, however, the sisters' love for each other and their newfound (UCE propaganda driven) hate they now had against the Canadian and United States governments fueled the darker side of both their souls.  Once Canadian heroes, the two sisters now reveled in killing and maiming anyone who was against the UCE.  Even after the UCE’s grand plan called Project: Gambit, the takeover of New England with nuclear weapons, both sisters considered the UCE’s extreme actions justified and forthright.

Today, Jean-Marie, who kept her superhero codename as “Bonne Fyre (yet with a new, more revealing costume) and Emme, now codenamed “Emme Pyre”, are two of the most dedicated super-powered members of the UCE and the UCE Enforcers.  So long and Jean-Marie and Emme can be together and free from persecution from the past, they’d consider the UCE as their home and family…no matter what the world called Colonel Chanteau aka “Emperor North” and his ‘global terrorist organization’.

On a side note, Jean-Marie eventually went on to exact her revenge on the Altona Chemical Company...but that's a story worth telling for another day...

Emme Pyre has excellent fire generation powers, able to produce close-in fiery bursts and create fiery melee weapons as well as melt objects near her or the ground under her. She has an excellent healing capability due to her new powers and has an unearthly resistance to cold and heat variances.  Although she can’t project ranged fire blasts like her sister Jean-Marie (Bonne Fyre) can (or is as powerful as her sister), Emme Pyre can still generate a sheath of flame around herself, preventing small arms fire from ever touching her.  She has limited thermal flight, up to a maximum speed of 15 mph, but only as high as 750 feet in altitude.  She has a remarkable healing capability, capable of healing her own wounds and broken bones, however, should she ever lose a finger or leg, she cannot regrow them.  Emme has become quite vicious and uncaring against any who oppose her or her sister.  She supports the UCE and its troops, while believing in Emperor North’s rhetoric.  The only greater love she has is for her sister, whom she has sworn to be there for ‘for infinity’.


Enforcer Alpha

Malcolm McGuiness

HISTORY

Lt. Col Malcolm McGuiness was a Canadian Army special forces leader with an impeccable military service record until the day he committed treason and released his old Commanding Officer, Colonel Chanteau from a military prison.  Today, he is the 2nd in command (Viceroy) of Chanteau's "United Canadian Empire" located on Wolfe Island near the U.S./Canadian border on the Atlantic Ocean coast as well as the leader of their super-powered group known as the "UCE Enforcers".

Born and raised in Edmonton in the Alberta province of Canada, Malcolm was a military brat that loved the military lifestyle. As soon as he was old enough, he joined the Army Cadet League of Canada and rapidly rose through the cadet ranks.  At age 18, he applied and was accepted for the Royal Military College of Canada, earning a bachelor's degree in Military and Strategic Studies.  After graduating from the academy, McGuiness was assigned to every forward-deploying unit across the world.  After serving overseas for a few years, he was assigned to be a division officer in a special operations unit, where he excelled at with his leadership and strong strategic knowledge.  Eventually, he earned a masters degree in International Studies as well as a specialized Military Science degree.  By the year 2000, he'd been assigned as an executive officer for the Canadian 1st Brigade, Alpha Company, Epsilon Unit. There, he met fellow officer Lt. Col. Chanteau and from that year forward, McGuiness' military service would never be the same.

In 2000, the Soltan Star Empire invaded Earth.  Canadian military forces were decimated in weeks, leaving only handfuls of units left to fight.  Chanteau took command of the special forces unit, assigning McGuiness as his 2nd in command.  Over the next several months, McGuiness offered up sage, sound advice to Chanteau only for that advice to altered into actions that were the complete opposite.  Initially, McGuiness was assured that Chanteau would lead their troops into guaranteed death, yet, thanks to Chanteau's odd and unique tactics, not only did most of the unit survive, but by the end of the war, they'd confused the Soltans so much that the enemy troops had no idea how to combat Chanteau's forces.  Through luck or fate, Chanteau's unit had the highest kill ratio against the Soltan troops.  McGuiness, doing all he could to 'read' what Chanteau wanted done and implementing tactics to support that, was always having to devise wild strategies to meld with Chanteau's plans and order.  As such, McGuiness was probably the only one in the unit who was able to deduce Chanteau's orders and keep everyone alive in the process.

Near the end of the war, an evil group known as Baltic Force from Lithuania sent out plans to all nations on how to create a weapon that would defeat the Soltans far more effectively than the existing weapons they were using.  As such, Chanteau demanded that McGuiness cobble together the weapons using whatever resources were available and make them work.  No greater challenge had ever been tasked than to make a futuristic weapon work with spare parts and scrap metal, yet McGuiness was able to make it happen.  Although still poorly built, at least the weapons were capable of killing the Soltans, unlike many of their standard machine guns and bullets. In a grand assault on the Soltans, Chanteau and McGuiness let a rag-tag mish-mosh of Canadian troops into an offensive attack.  Although brave, their chances of survival were low.  McGuiness, who'd worked the probabilities of success knew the assault would be the unit's last.  Once again, luck, or fate, sided with Chanteau and their unit as they decimated the Soltans and drove them out of Canadian and back into space.

Considered the "Heroes of Canada" and "Saviors of Earth", Chanteau, McGuiness and their remaining troops in their hodge-podge unit basked in the glory of their victory.  McGuiness, who'd studied military tactics and strategies for decades was completely dumbfounded by Chanteau's tactics.  McGuiness considered Chanteau as an 'angel from God' who was sent to save Canada and its citizens, as well as the rest of the world.  The rest of the Canadian military and government, however, believed far differently.

After formally assessing Chanteau's and McGuiness' tactics and strategies, the Canadian military upper echelons denounced both of them as brilliant military leaders and instead considered them the luckiest idiotic leaders on the planet instead.  Their resounding denunciation of Chanteau and McGuiness was also backed by the Canadian politicians who disliked Chanteau's 'cult of personality' he had over his troops and any whom Chanteau wanted to persuade.  In time, McGuiness began to be politically maneuvered to denounce Chanteau as well...for the betterment of McGuiness' career.  With a conviction of a a devout Christian warrior during the Crusades, McGuiness instead denounced the Canadian military leaders and politicians.  Throughout that same time, several other unit troops backing Chanteau and demanding a promotion for him to the rank of Brigadier were met with jail time and charges of sedition.  eventually, Chanteau was ordered to retire or they'd charge him for conduct unbecoming an officer and sedition.  After Chanteau lost it in front of the Canadian military leaders, he was arrested.  Mc Guiness was ordered to take charge of Chanteau's unit and to get order back into the ranks in the next 24 hours or he himself would be thrown in prison.

McGuiness did not take well to being threatened.

Mc Guiness fought side by side with the men and women now being called seditionists and dissenters. He'd give his life for any of them, including and especially Chanteau, but knew without order and discipline, they'd all be tossed in jail the next day.  He made his decision that night and talked to his troops early the next morning..

That next day, McGuiness' unit all formally apologized to the military leaders and politicians for their comments and actions, citing blind patriotism as their fervor and fault.  With a contentious acceptance of their apologies, the Canadian military leaders continued with their plans to court martial Chanteau and several other troops also locked up in the military prison with him.  The court martial never occurred, nor did Chanteau's unit ever return to their barracks the next few nights.

On the final night before Chanteau's court martial, McGuiness had devised a plan to break Chanteau out of the military prison.  Utilizing Chanteau's unusual tactics for the first time by himself, McGuiness initiated the jail break utlizing all 200 remaining troops from their unit that all freely volunteered to perform treason to free their beloved leader, Colonel Chanteau.  As improbable as the jail break's success should have been, Chanteau and his other incarcerated troops were broken out successfully.  The escape route made its way through unusual roads, trails and shallow river beds until they all the now treasonous troops arrived together days later at Wolfe Island,

Wolfe Island was a (oddly) stretegic location to hide munitions, equipment and resources during the Soltan Invasion; a location that was never found by the Soltans nor ever deduced by the military powers that be.  Once at the site, an old 1960s-era underground bunker was utilized to hide in and set up shop.  Over the next few months, as the dedicated troops of Chanteau upgraded the base with the unique genius of a new outcast amongst them known as Dr. Phlebotinum, McGuiness and Chanteau plotted their future.  As far as McGuiness was concerned, whatever Chanteau said was gospel.  Being the good soldier, McGuiness backed up every single decision that Chanteau made from there on, regardless of how crazy, impractical or nonmilitary it was.

Once Chanteau's orders and/or direction were given, once again, McGuiness took charge to devised the required processes, resources and troops needed to perform Chanteau's desires.  With a strong military bearing, a commanding attitude and a definite hero-worshiping demeanor, McGuiness quickly became accustomed to his new title amongst the troops; a designation he'd been called back during the Soltan Invasion - Enforcer Alpha.

Regardless of Chanteau's orders to perform raids and thefts against the Canadian and United States governments, regardless of their new order, the "United Canadian Empire", being called a terrorist organization, regardless of the world's social opinion, McGuiness continued to follow Chanteau's orders almost blindly.  In 2005, Chanteau, now known by his new title as Emperor North, devised a plan to annex the United States' New England region as Emperor North's desire to create a 'New Canada' province for the empire.  With plans to use military weapons against the civilian populace and the threat of nuclear annihilation with actual, armed nuclear weapons still didn't faze McGuiness, even after Emperor North's "Project: Gambit" failed miserably thanks to a synergistic and patriotic band of New England superheroes eventually called the "Yankee Minutemen".

Immediately after their miraculous escape from defeat in New England with Project: Gambit, Emperor North became unglued wanting to set off remaining nuclear warheads in New England to make them pay.  Perceiving Emperor North's rants as just another of Chanteau's 'brilliant winning schemes', McGuiness ordered his troops to follow the emperor's orders, only for emperor North to be shot through the heart by one of his fellow troops who wanted to stop the emperor from killing his family in Boston.  With Emperor North mortally wounded and near death, Mc Guiness took charge of the UCE and emperor-pro tem. The nuclear attack was called off by McGuiness simply because McGuiness erroneously believed that the emperor had another unique plan that would have been executed in relation to whatever he meant by arming the nuclear weapons. Through the emperor's twisted logic, McGuiness instead continued to only see the emperor's brilliance through tactical and strategic interaction with illogical methods, however, that day, with McGuiness unwittingly stopping the countdown to nuclear annihilation of New England, he saved millions from death and destruction, simply to allow the emperor another opportunity to complete his 'brilliant plan' after he got better from his near-fatal shooting.

Months later, Emperor North recovered enough to take back command of the UCE.  In that time, he'd been dealt a fatal blow.  The bullet ruptured his heart, which had since been replaced with a modified artificial heart. Although the emperor had no intention to 'continue the countdown' to nuke New England (seeing as the remaining nukes were found and disarmed anyway), the Emperor, now only half the man he once was, bequeathed the leadership of the UCE Enforcers to McGuiness as well as performing the day-to-day functions of the emperor in his place as Viceroy of the UCE. Emperor North has since been brooding, plotting and planning his next brilliantly illogical plot to make the UCE as the only world power in the Northern hemisphere and the downfall and destruction of the Canadian and United States governments in the process.  As such, McGuiness, ever the devoted follower of the mad emperor, continues his tasks as a dangerous yet brainwashed leader of the militant nation that is the United Canadian Empire as well as the right hand man to a megalomaniac of a madman who calls himself an emperor.

Enforcer Alpha is a normal human being that wears a powerful, high tech suit of armor.  The body armor and helmet provide amazingly powerful protection from all forms of damage and unearthly protection from heat, cold and radiation.  The armor is cybernetically-enhanced to increase the wearer's fighting by a factor of 2, their agility by a factor of 2, their strength by a factor of 3 and their endurance by a factor of 4. He has a set of rocket boots and a jet pack used for flight up to 600 mph to an altitude of 20,000 feet for a maximum duration of 20 minutes. He carries an interchangeable array of remarkably strong to incredibly powerful ranged weapons. His helmet contains a full array of communications equipment transmitters and receivers, as well as a full spectrum vision system that can see in all spectrums except X-ray.

 


Neo Felquiste

Nonce DeFluer

HISTORY

Born in French Quebec, Canada, Nonce was always a discontented young lad.  Unhappy with anything and everything, he was labeled a complainer by his classmates and even his parents and relatives.  In his young teens, one of his uncles, Alain DeFleur, enticed Nonce to focus his skills on a sport.  After several attempts with a variety of sports, the one he took a liking to was fencing.  There, Nonce seemed like a natural.  With less than two years of training, he began winning championships and eventually became the youngest national champion of Canada.  His skills earned him a shot at the Olympics in representing Canada, but as fate would have it, his antagonistic nature earned the ire of the selection committee who dropped Nonce as a competitor for his unbecoming sportsmanlike conduct.  Rather than take this as a lesson, he killed each of the selection committee that voted him off the Olympic team.

On the run, Nonce eventually found a town north of Hudson Bay where some of the toughest and most ornery men worked and lived.  There, he found a bar where he was assigned as a janitor.   On several occasions, Nonce aided in stopping several brutal fights using pool cues and BBQ skewers like his fencing foils.  The bouncer, a strong brutish man, took a liking to Nonce and taught him how to fight, box and wrestle.  Although still arrogant and discontent with all around him, he was a quick study and rapidly learned new fighting skills each week from any who would teach him.  In time, the scrawny teenager became the bar bouncer after Nonce himself ‘defeated’ his Bouncer of a teacher, forcing his mentor to leave the bar for good.

One night, a band of Canadian troops came into the bar.  Within minutes, the troops created a stir, causing Nonce, the scrawny bouncer, to ask them to leave.  As they laughed, Nonce commenced wiping the floor with them.  When the fight was over, seven well-trained Canadian Army troops were left littering the floor, defeated by Nonce.  An older man sitting in the back of the bar saw the fight and asked Nonce to sit and talk with him about a job offer.  The job – become a Quebecois freedom fighter.

Over the next two years, Nonce performed every terrorist act one could do at the behest of the leaders of the Free Quebec Movement.  He enjoyed being the stealthy terrorist against Canadian troops and police.  The movement filled his discontent heart with purpose and adventure.  They were like family to him, however, his aggressive and antagonistic ways eventually even roiled the leaders of the movement.  On one such mission, Nonce’s actions were reported to the police by one of the movement’s leaders who disliked Nonce.  Nonce was promptly caught and arrested before he even knew what was happening.  Charged with hundreds of charges, he was placed in a military prison until his trial date; a date that he’d never attend in person.

Two days before his trial, he saw an esteemed Canadian military officer, Colonel Chanteau, imprisoned in the next cell over.  After trading insults and jibes at one another, they started talking.  Surprisingly, Nonce and Colonel Chanteau hit it off.  The two quickly became friends.  In that short period of time, Nonce stated he wanted vengeance against those that did him wrong in Quebec, even though he still strongly believed in an independent Quebec.  Colonel Chanteau made Nonce an offer: fight for him and when his troops take control of North America one day, Quebec would be its own nation, with Nonce assigned to lead from whatever position he wanted, including Chancellor.  Nonce didn’t believe the Colonel had the ability to ‘take over North America’, but in a bet, Chanteau offered “If I can get you out of the military prison before your trial, you work with me and my troops, and I’ll honor Quebec’s Independence the day we seize it from the corrupt Canadian government, or, if they don’t get freed prior to the trial, he’d personally sacrifice his life to get Nonce free”.  Nonce agreed to the ‘trite’ deal, only to be broken out that night with Colonel Chanteau and over 200 of his dedicated troops.  Even several other supporters of Chanteau were released in the jail break.  Hours after the jail break, Nonce agreed to Chanteau’s offer and joined his troops.

Over the next few years on Wolfe Island, Nonce again became disenchanted at being a ‘grunt’ of a trooper.  He wanted more.  After several fights and discipline issues with him, Colonel Chanteau decided to make a contest against Nonce (primarily to put Nonce in his place).  A championship fighting match was created amongst Chanteau’s ‘United Canadian Empire’ troops (as they were known by then), with over 24 challengers amidst the troops willing to fight for the title.  By the end of the championship bout, Nonce was the victor, beating all other combatants, including Chanteau’s right-hand man, Enforcer Alpha.

As a reward, Chanteau offered Nonce a shot at being on his unique super-powered team called the “UCE Enforcers”.  Although Nonce was not super-powered, he still a better fighter than most in the team.  He was given a unique costume (with a Fleur-De-Lis logo emblazoned on his chest to represent Quebec) and his choice of weapons; he demanded a uniquely made set of energy rapier swords located in a Toronto engineering lab (used for some Canadian superheroes).  The UCE troops, a week later, performed a raid on the Toronto lab and stole the energy rapiers for Nonce.  Once Nonce started using the energy rapiers, his skills increased dramatically. Whether it was the less weight or the balanced design, Nonce's fighting with them increased dramatically.

Since then, Nonce has been an aggressive, arrogant yet dedicated member of the UCE and the UCE Enforcers.  Time and again, Nonce has aggressively swooped into combat without a fear in the world.  His actions have felled and killed dozens of Canadian troops and police in the last few years, as well as two Canadian superheroes. He is a dangerous adversary, one that most people don't perceive as a threat...until it's too late...
 
Neo Felquiste is a normal human with an amazing skill in fighting two-handed with swords, epees, rapiers and foils, however, his favorite weapons of late, provided by the UCE, are his "Energy Rapiers".  His remarkable agility and acrobatic prowess makes his a difficult target to hit.  He uses his arrogance like a sword in his combative talks as well, taunting his foes, angering them, primarily in deriding their own abilities and capabilities.  He wears a body suit that provides typical protection from physical, energy, heat and cold attacks, with goo protection from radiation attacks.  His mask can be used for night vision and normal vision.  He uses an earwig comms device for communications with the UCE as well as for listening to his music while he fights.  He is notorious for going for killing attacks, rather than play with his foes.  He will goad his foes into believing they're winning and then swoop in with a killing blow shortly thereafter.  He is also bi-sexual in his affairs.

Heather Holloway

HISTORY 

In 1995, Heather was a large Canadian high school sophomore girl who was into the Goth scene and obsessed with her high school crush, Thad Boseman.  Thad, a rich blonde haired senior in high school, was teh big Man of Campus (BMOC) and was wanted by nearly every girl in the high school.  Heather's awkward and strange nature made her an outcast in school, garnering no friends nor boyfriends for that matter.  One day Thad happened to smile at her during lunch.  Heather decided then and there that Thad wanted her, but was too shy to say how he felt.  After a week of pulling together every ounce of courage she could to talk with him, she did, only to be mortified by Thad, his friends and Thad's girl entourage.  Left humiliated and in despair, she considered suicide, but instead decided to try one last time to make Thad hers.  She went to an old First Person shaman and asked for help in obtaining a love potion and/or spell to make Thad hers forever and ever. The shaman said that in order to make the potion and spell, it would cost heather her own soul.  Heather didn't care; she wanted Thad.  The shaman said it would take two years to concoct the potion and meld it to the needs of the spell that would make the potions effects permanent.  Heather agreed, but hated the idea of waiting a whole two years more, yet wait she did.

In that long two year wait, Thad's father and mother died in a plane crash, leaving Thad the family inheritance of millions of Canadian dollars.  Thad settled into the life of a young rich bachelor with parties at his manor every weekend, with a new girl wrapped around him every three days.  He was living a young man's dream.  Heather, over the next two years, instead grew more and more obsessed with Thad.  She made a shrine to him in her closet; she stole his hair clippings from the barber shop floor and went through his trash to find any personal things she could call hers.  Finally, after the long two year wait, Heather had just graduated high school and went back to the shaman.  When she arrived, she noticed the shaman's home had been cleared out.  It turned out the shaman had died one night over a year ago.  They told of the twisted and fearful look on his face when they found him.  Heather, angered over being cheated out of her want for the shaman's potion and spell spied a bottle and a note on a shelf with Heather's name on it.  She grabbed the items and drove back to her home, where she read the note.  It provided directions to use the love potion and that within a fortnight, she had to perform a spell-like ritual on the day of their wedding for the effects to become permanent.   The shaman also left a caution stating that strange things happened to him while conjuring the magics to empower the potion and that she should rethink her decision carefully.  Ignoring the cautionary note, she set about enacting getting her heart's desire.

Over the previous two years, Heather had lost lots of weight and was now a slender size 6.  In order for the love potion to work, both Thad and heather would have to injest the potion withing seconds of drinking it.  The potion was able to work even if mixed in with any other drink or concoction (i.e., it was ok if it was mixed with, say, beer).  Heather crashed one of Thad's weekend parties and found her way to Thad rather quickly.  Thad never even recognized Heather; instead he DID notice Heather's body.  He sauntered up to her and started talking to her.  She asked him if he wanted a drink, for which he said 'sure'.  Heather, knowing every detail about Thad, got him his favorite beer, a Molson's Ale, and poured the potion into the beer.  After she brought him the potioned beer, he started pounding it back.  Heather, fearful that she wouldn't be able to get a drink herself of the potion, grabbed the beer bottle from his lips and started guzzling the beer, emptying the bottle.  It wasn't but seconds later that Thad started acting woozy and then turned to Heather and professed his undying love for her.  He even started stripping in the middle of the party wanting to have sex with Heather right there and then on the kitchen floor.  She instead, took him upstairs, and, well, you can guess how the first night went. And the 2nd night.  And the 3rd night...well, all week that is.

As Heather rushed to get all their wedding day plans finalized,  Thad followed her around like a puppy dog, totally smitten with everything about her. Thad's friends had no idea what was going on with him and after getting nowhere in trying to convince him to rethink his upcoming marriage to Heather, they instead confronted Heather.  Thad's prior girlfriends got together one night and beat Heather badly, hospitalizing her.  She ordered Thad to hurt them, which he did, killing two of them.  He even killed two of his make buddies at Heather's request as well.  Thad and Heather quickly became hunted by the police, however, both Heather and Thad eluded the police every chance they could. Hiding from the police made it even tougher to get the wedding done, especially when the priest declined to marry them after he discovered their involvement in the murders.  On the last day, Heather ordered Thad to kidnap the priest and force him to hold the marriage ceremony inside an old lumber mill on the outskirts of St. John in New Brunswick, Canada.   

That night, with the abducted priest present, Heather performed her final ritual for the spell that would make the potion's effects permanent, bonding Thad to her for eternity.  As Heather read and performed the steps in the shaman's note in how to perform the ritual, she was constantly interrupted by the priest who kept upsetting parts of the ritual.  Thad of course didn't help by wanting to constantly be with her, rather than waiting in the adjacent room, fulfilling the time honored rite for the groom not to see the bride in her wedding dress until the ceremony's start.  Instead, Thad walked in on Heather in her Gothic black modern wedding dress, further upsetting Heather.  With all the distractions, Heather missed performing several steps in the shaman's note.  As Heather was about to perform the last step, the police barged into the lumber mill to arrest Thad (and Heather).  The priest, in a belief that Heather was about to perform a devilish ceremony, damaged two offerings used in the spell just as Thad rushed to tackle the police.  In the mass confusion, Heather dropped the last ingredient outside the ceremonial spell's ring.  As Thad was shot at by the police, and with the priest spouting a prayer, the spell that Heather had tried to follow went terribly wrong.   A dark mystical energy enveloped the room, swirling about each person in the lumber mill.  As Thad laid on the ground dying, the potion's effects wore off him just as Heather became enveloped in the swirling mass of darkness.  Moments later, Heather was nowhere to be seen, leaving the police baffled by what they'd walked in on, as well as a catatonic priest and a dying young playboy dressed in a Gothic-looking wedding tuxedo.  Heather had instead passed on...to a whole new world.

Heather had become an ethereal ghost like being, infused with dark magical energies, but unable to touch, talk or interact with the real world.  Instead, she merely floated from place to place trying to make sense of what happened to her.  In her meanderings over the next week, she came across an outdoor wedding.  Angered that she wasn't able to have her fairy tale wedding, Heather, in her unseen ethereal form attacked the bride-to-be with her dark energies, draining the life out of the bride-to-be, causing her to die there moments before wedlock.  Strangely, Heather was able to gain a slight form as a result.  As the wedding guests stood stunned at the dead bride-to-be, they saw the ghostly image of heather standing over the dead body.  Wedding guests screamed and ran from the sight of the ghostly Heather image.  Within a minutes of killing the bride-to-be, Heather returned to her ethereal state, now unable to be seen by the naked eye. 

Heather quickly realized that she had to drain the life from other living people in order to partially reverse the effects of her ghostly state.  With that in mind, she went to a nearby highway and started taking the lives of drivers, creating accidents and causing a traffic pileup of epic proportions, resulting in over 20 deaths.  As she'd thought, their deaths further solidified Heather's body, however, it also empowered her, making her powers stronger with each death.  When the police arrived at the highway accident site, they say the opaque form of heather in her Gothic wedding dress floating above the ground.  Scared of her, a policeman shot at her.  Although unhurt by the bullet, she did feel the effects of the bullet passing through her, surprising her.  As such, she wanted to run as fast as she could from the scene.  In doing so, she opened up a portal in front of her and flew through it, which transported Heather to her hometown in St. Johns.  She soon realized she could not only manipulate the dark magical energies around her, but could also teleport great distances with her portals.  The effects of the 20 deaths left Heather opaque for over 10 days.  IN this state, she was still ghost-like, but found it harder to phase through things, even though her powers were now magnified tenfold.  After the 10 days, Heather became ethereal again and her powers waned.  Heather now realized that in order to stay in the real world, she had to take lives.

Over the next few years, Heather did just that.  Reports of her 'ghost sightings' became newsworthy, with pictures of her ghostly form and image seen at the death scenes.  Soon, ghost hunters and exorcism leaders began combing across Canada, tracking her activities, attempting to stop her and 'send her back to the beyond'.  It was in one such encounter that Heather, in one of her many 'wedding day' killings, ran into the last person she'd ever thought to see again - Thad.

Thad, after recovering from his gunshot wounds and through the help of the priest's testimony, was released from the murders Heather made Thad commit. Thad and the priest, in a dedicated team effort, had since joined forces and were hunting Heather.  On that fateful day that Heather in her new super-powered form saw Thad again, she once again that her obsession resurface.  As she floated across the church to embrace Thad, she realized that she was instead being repelled from Thad's location.  The spell done by Heather on her 'wedding day' had instead generated a repelling spell rather than a love potion attraction.  Try as she might, she couldn't get anywhere close to Thad, nor could Thad get closer to her, although, rather than embrace Heather, Thad, along with the priest instead wanted to perform an exorcism to banish Heather from the earthly plane.  Realizing that Thad was once again alive, yet unable to be near him, Heather teleported away to think on her next actions.

Eventually, after several more killings, Heather deduced that if she killed enough bodies, she might be able to form long enough to physically touch solid objects again and recreate the potion and spell once again to finally get her heart's desire, Thad.  Try as she might, Heather, now labeled as 'Netherbride' by the media, was unable to kill enough people to solidify enough to follow through with her desires towards Thad.  That's when she realized that Canada was not a great place for mass murders and killings. When she tried to travel to new York City, she realized she became exponentially weaker each day she was away from Canadian soil.  When she tried to teleport to Mexico City, the trip nearly discorporated her.  She was able to teleport back to Canada just in time. She thus realized her teleportation powers were tied to Canada and only a few hundred or so miles south into the United States.  She tried to teleport to the North Pole, but again, was severely weakened as a result.  Regardless of her current limitations of being repelled from Thad and that she could only teleport in the Canadian region, and that she needed mass deaths to fuel her plan to get Thad back, she began searching for where she could kill indiscriminately to empower herself. She found it with Emperor North of the United Canadian Empire (UCE).

Over the last few years, Heather has since become a linchpin in helping the UCE in weapons raids, killings and taking on super-powered UCE antagonists. She enjoys Emperor North's company, however, she is still obsessed with her desire to still marry Thad and live together - in death.  Woe be it to any who attempt to stop her in her murderous goals. 

To this day, Thad and the priest are still hunting her.

Netherbride's powers range in strength from Feeble to Unearthly depending on how many people she's killed in a week's time.  1-4 people grant her Poor power strength; 100 deaths deal her an unearthly level of power.  Her dark energies can create darkness in a space (radius dependent on power strength), shooting dark energy bolts, entrapping people in a dark cage, creating solid dark energy barriers, teleporting up to a thousand miles distance so long as its confined to the North American continent (she gets weaker the further away from the Canadian territory she teleports from).  Her ghost-like body allows objects and energies to pass through her, thus depleting any attack effects other than psionic or magic. A such, she retains an excellent psionic defense.  As Netherbide kills more, her body becomes more opaque (i.e., after killing 50 people, she can only receive 1/2 damage of a normal attack against her or as a normal person). Once she's amassed over 75 kills,  Netherbride will not be able to phase through solid objects or walls. Netherbride can levitate at a speed of 15 mph, and can also see at 10x the ability of any typical human eye.

Terrance “Terry” Reston

HISTORY

Terrance Reston was the wealthy son of a family-owned multi-generational Canadian weapons manufacturer of the Reston Firearms Company in Vancouver, Canada.  By age 10, Terrance had started to learn the family business, as well as become an excellent firearm marksman in his own right.

Throughout his school years, Terrance grew to become a bully and a snob.  Going to private schools and colleges for the wealthy and elite, he imposed his wealth and abrasive personality on everyone around him.  Knowing he was in line with taking over the family business from his father, as well as inheriting the family fortune, Terrance thought his life was complete.

That’s when reality hit home. Hard.

During Terrance’s last year of college, he received a call to come home right away.  As was Terrance’s modus operandi, he took his sweet time getting back home, only to find that his father and mother had committed suicide the day before Terrance was called. As per his parents wills’ demands, they’d already been cremated and placed in the family grave site mausoleum, all prior to Terrance arriving at home.  Rather than be grief stricken and saddened by these events, Terrance was elated. As far as he was concerned, he’d just inherited his family’s wealth and business all in one fell swoop.  However, that was not to be.

After weeks of wrangling over his parents’ finances, their wills, the estate and the weapons manufacturing business, Terrance discovered his parents were not only broke, they were in debt for tens of millions of dollars. As part of his parents’ financial settlement, the Reston Firearms Company was put up for auction and sold to an American company that quickly gutted the plant and shutdown the company for good, leaving over 800 workers unemployed and with no benefits or retirement plans.  The Reston estate was sold off also at auction, bought out by an American movie star, who completely overhauled the estate to a ‘nuevo artistic’ hedonistic party house which, two weeks after the overhaul, burned down in a mysterious fire.  Terrance, in the interim, was left homeless and destitute.  Even his trust fund was taken from him to pay for his college expenses.

In less than a year’s time, Terrance went from a rich private college student with a wealthy future in his sights to absolute poverty and despair.

Terrance was, however, willed some of his family’s inheritable (and legally untouchable) items.  One was his family’s gun collection of over 300 vintage, rare and unique firearms, including the first issue of each model weapon the Reston Firearms Company ever produced.  ON top of the inherited weapons, he also inherited an old trunk located in a storage locker that was kept under an unknown name; a name Terrance had never heard of before – John Brown.  After Terrance sold over 1/3 of the gun collection at a fraction of their true worth, he journeyed to the storage locker facility located right on the US/Canadian border outside of Vancouver.  There, the manager of the facility handed Terrance a package with the key to the locker.  Terrance opened the locker and saw a single, large old travel travel trunk in the middle of the locker.  A key and a digital security code enclosed in the package allowed Terrance to unlock and open the trunk.  In is was a metal gun case, with an old laptop and dozens of documents, blueprints, passports…and bundles of American hundred dollar bills, totaling over $100,000. Terrance was ecstatic for the find.

After collecting the trunk and driving it back to his cheap motel, he discovered the gun case contained a highly advanced multi-purpose weapon that was designed to shoot energy blasts, energy mortars and an additional plasma flamethrower feature.  The weapons was designed to be charged and energized from a standard electrical outlet. The weapon’s manufacturer name on it was ‘Reston”.  One of the documents were instructions on how to use and care for it…all for a man named John Brown.  After opening the laptop, an automated message popped up on the screen, allowing for either Terrance or the mysterious “John Brown” to open their own selective set of instructions.  Terrance clicked on his name.  A poor quality video appeared on the screen of his father, stating that this was Terrance’s weapon and associated design documents to use however he wanted; use for your own protection, sell it, or if not wanted at all, contact the CIA’s “John Brown” and give it to him.  Terrance, curious about the ‘John Brown’ selection, decided to click on it afterwards.  In the poor quality video, his father talked to “John Brown” stating that after supporting him for three decades with his unique weapons purchases and designs, that this weapon would be his last and best weapon he’d ever made for Brown.  His father, in the video, claimed that he’d made it in 1999…days before the alien Soltan Star Empire’s invasion of Earth.  He also claimed that he wasn’t sure if Brown would ever want to get the weapon from him, pending on his ‘retirement’ status, but it he didn’t want it, give it to his son, Terrance.  With that, the video ended.  On the laptop, there were also hundreds of technical drawings, diagrams and sources of manufacturing for the parts that made up the weapon.  Included were also designs for a smaller, lighter and less powerful version should Brown want to mass produce them.

After sifting through the document and files, Terrance realized that “John Brown” was actually the legendary hero, “Major Invader”.  Unhappy that some old retired American hero was even considered a possible owner of his father’s greatest weapon produced, Terrance instead thought of ways to sell the weapons designs for his own selfish motivations – money.

After several calls to former Reston Firearms Company leaders, Terrance advertised a black market auction for millions of dollars for the weapon’s design, specifically stating that it was a weapon made for “Major Invader” as a selling point.  Within days, hundreds of bids and requests for the weapon’s demonstration were acknowledged and scheduled.  On the day of the auction, Terrance demonstrated the abilities of the weapon with great success.  Several interested crime organization representatives, impressed with the weapon, stayed for the auction.  Representatives from the Aegis Alliance, Crimewave, Canis, the Blackjacks, the Blood Bolts, the Gold Syndicate, the Golden Dragon Asian crime cartel and even the Solano crime family attended, as well as several other ‘anonymous’ potential buyers. One such buyer was a man only known as “John North” (see Emperor North); another was a no-name older gentleman who only went by “John Doe”.

After the successful and impressive weapons demonstration, bidding started.  Bids began to skyrocket into the hundreds of millions of dollars, making Terrance all the more ecstatic as the bids climbed.  At the end of the bidding, the highest bidder, “John North” offered up $600 million total for the weapon, designs and all documentation.  As North was being presented the travel trunk’s weapons contents, “John Doe” fought his way onto the stage and attempted to steal the trunk and its contents.  “John Doe” was actually “John Brown” aka “Major Invader”.  Now in his 90s, but just as spry as a 20 year old, Major Invader shot his way through the crime representatives at the auction and grabbed up the trunk, escaping swiftly from the auction. Before anyone could respond, Major Invader exited the warehouse that the auction was being held at and took off with a skyhook device that allowed him to fly off with a remotely controlled helicopter.  Major Invader not only stole Terrance’s weapon and its designs, he’d stolen his future.

Furious with what had happened, Terrance wanted revenge on Major Invader for destroying the only chance he had at success.  The potential buyer of the weapons, John North (aka Emperor North), talked with Terrance after the incident and offered a solution; come work for him and his “United Canadian Empire” and when the time was right, they’d take back what was stolen, as well as bring down the United States once and for all.  After Terrance thought about it, he agreed. Greedy Americans bought out his family’s weapons plant and destroyed the business, laying off hundreds of Canadian workers, destroyed his family’s fortune and now, the American Major Invader stole that which was rightfully his to do with as he pleased.  The next day, Terrance contact “John North” and volunteered his services to him.

Days later, Terrance was taken to the mysterious Wolfe Island, the headquarters of the United Canadian Empire (UCE), headed by John North who was actually the famous Soltan Invasion Canadian military hero, Colonel Chanteau, now going by another disguised name, Clarence North.  Together, Terrance and North worked out a plan to steal back the weapons.  Over the next three months they attempted to regain their stolen goods, only to find their leads were contrived and elusive.  Thanks to Terrance’s photographic memory, the UCE’s engineers were, however, able to cobble together a poor quality of the weapon as described by Terrance.  Although under-powered, the weapon was still able to be mass produced and provided to the UCE troops.  A more powerful prototype of the weapon was created by the same UCE engineers, however, several critical safety issues were related to the weapon and was deemed too dangerous for the troops to use.  Terrance, however, wanted to use it.  In fact he wanted to be in the middle of the UCE’s super-powered UCE Enforcers group, so that he’d have, what Terrance deemed a ‘front row seat’ to the decimation of the United States and a person who’d be directly involved in its destruction.  Utilizing a suggestion for a costume and codename, he took on a new identity with a stylized 21st Century version of the old British/Canadian military infantry uniforms of the late 18th Century.  With his remarkably powerful, yet highly dangerous prototype multi-purpose weapon, as well as several other advanced weapons and devices, Terrance became the new agile and deadly marksman known as the “Red Coat”.

Red Coat is a normal human with technological powers based on his unique prototype multi-purpose weapon.  Red Coat is suited in a costume that provides typical physical and energy protection.  His primary weapon is his “Enforcer” multi-purpose weapons that, when fully charged (takes 12 hours to do that from a standard electrical socket) can shoot up to 3000 excellent energy blasts at a semi-automatic rate of 5 bursts per trigger squeeze or a singular 1 burst per trigger squeeze all at a range of 500 yards.  A separate energy converters allows for over 50 remarkably powerful energy mortars to be fired at a rate of 1 per 5 seconds at a range to 400 yards. It can also produce up to 2 minutes worth of incredibly hot plasma flames at a range of 50 yards.  Red Coat also retains several other weapons to include good level energy pistols (charged in 2 hours, can produce 100 shots at a rate of 1 shot per second  at a range of 400 yards), several remarkably powerful plasma grenades, an excellent energy-based electrosabre, several excellent level plasma mines (affects all in a 10 foot radius), five mini-gun drones (in backpack) that can fire up to 100 typical energy level bursts, 1 shot per second, at a range of 200 yards (drone range and duration of flight, 25 miles or 25 minutes of flight), operated by a fire control tracking system affixed to Red Coat’s tricorn hat with psycho-neural interfaces.  He also carries one incredibly strong sonic grenade (used as a last resort) and a smoke grenade.

Donovan O'Malley

HISTORY

Donovan O'Malley was born an only child by his father, Shamus O'Malley and his mother Beatrice O'Malley in April 1937.  His father was an Irish millionaire who was a stone quarry magnate who also loved the company of 'loose' women. His mother hated her husband's lifestyle and in March of 1939, she took off to Canada with 70,000 Pounds of his money and disappeared, taking young Donovan with her.

In 1939 as Great Britain entered World War II, Canada began supporting Great Britain's war effort.  Donovan's mother, Beatrice, volunteered to wrap care packages for the British troops as well as give a large portion of her stolen Pounds to the war effort, all the while trying to raise Donovan in a wealthy neighborhood.  Eventually, the money ran out by war's end, leaving Donovan and his mother in poverty.  They had to move into a flophouse full of alcoholics and derelicts where Beatrice worked at the house's food kitchen to pay for their room and board.  Donovan grew up being the oddball 'Irish' kid in the slums of Canada, routinely getting beat and getting into fights at school.  One such fight resulted in Donovan receiving a severe head injury, placing him in the hospital for months with a coma-like concussion.  When Donovan came to months later, he was a changed young man.  He was more violent and angry at anyone who crossed him.  He became more aggressive in his fights, getting even with those that gave him the head injury by beating them within an inch of their lives.  Nonetheless to say, charges were brought against Dononvan and he was placed in a juvenile detention facility outside of Vancouver, Canada, separated from his mother the whole time.

At age 18, he was released into his own cognizance, however, much had changed.  Donovan, after being exposed to other evil teenagers in the juvenile detention center, became even more criminalized while in custody.  He tracked down his mother's last known location to find she'd married a rich Canadian aircraft manufacturer during his incarceration.  When he showed up unannounced at his mother's new husband's home, he was treated as a criminal.  He immediately told Donovan to leave or he'd call the police, only for Donovan to see his mother turn from Donovan and shun him for her new husband.  Donovan lost it and violently attacked his mother's new husband to death, brutally beating him with an iron lamp again and again, smashing the man's brains all over the foyer.  When the police arrived, they arrested Donovan for murder.

The trial was quick and complete.  Donovan was charged with first degree murder and was sentenced to life in prison.  That is where Donovan spent the next 70 years of his life, however, not the way any normal hardened criminal would spend his or her life sentence since Donovan discovered his new powers early into his life sentence.

Ever since Donovan received the head trauma when he was a young boy, he was always a bit awkward in walking and actions.  By the time he'd left juvenile detention at age 18, he still looked like a t 14 year old kid, yet he was stronger than most people he knew.  Unable to determine why, thanks to his lack of understanding things (between the head injury and his lack of schooling), he ignored his differences.  After Donovan's murder trial over killing his mother's new husband, Donovan was taken to Canada's old Stony Mountain Prison outside of Winnipeg, Manitoba. While there, Donovan quickly learned to be a thug for prison bosses, shanking fellow inmates and being used as a patsy again and again to get other prison bosses clear of suspicion.  Time and again, Donovan found himself in solitary confinement.  by his fifth year in incarceration, he was attacked by a rival prison boss' gang and beaten severely.  He'd received once again a near-fatal head injury and as a result of his injuries, lost both his forearms which had to be amputated due to the severity of the attack.  Donovan was kept in a prison hospital ward for the next several years until he finally came to in 1980.  When he awoke, he discovered he had new abilities - powers that had been blocked due to his previous head injuries.  He no long walked awkwardly either, instead he felt stronger than he'd ever been in his life.  To test his new abilities, he attacked his captor guards in the prison hospital, tossing them through a concrete wall.  He also discovered he could fly.  As he started flying away, he was shot at by over a dozen high-powered rifles by guards.  The gunshot wounds would have killed a normal man, but instead only grounded Donovan long enough for them to place him in heavy steel chains and drag him back to the hospital.  There, he healed quicker than ever before and within days, was fully  healed from the dozen of so gunshots he'd received in his attempted jail break.  As a result, the warden and staff knew that Donovan was the greatest threat of any prisoner there in Stony Mountain and actions had to be taken to prevent Donovan from getting free.

The warden of the Stony Mountain prison, Al Stevenson, was a strict disciplinarian during his administration there.  Knowing  Donovan to be a super-powered threat, yet unable to get the Canadian government to provide another more secure place to incarcerate him, Warden Stevenson instead created a maximum holding cell made of six inch thick steel.  The prison cell was only six feet long by six feet wide and six feet high, thus making flight in the cell near impossible.  There, Donovan was kept separated from the rest of the prison population, in seclusion and 'off the books' to prevent what Warden Stevenson called 'a chance for bleeding heart reformers to try and give him a chance to free himself'.  Over the years in solitary confinement, Donovan went slowly mad, cackling and talking to himself on many occasions.  He'd tried punching his way through the cell, only to be drugged long enough for new welded steel plates to cover the damaged steel walls.  Over time, the layering of the steel plates began to diminish the size of Donovan's cell, taking out over 2 feet in all directions, thus preventing Donovan from being able to every lie down flat to sleep.  This added to Donovan's already deteriorating mental condition, further fueling his hatred for anyone in the government or working for the government. 

Eventually Donovan's powers were revealed to the Canadian government, who decided to move Donovan to a more 'secure' location at the recently build Millhaven Institute located in bath, Ontario.  There, Donovan was given a much larger (20x20x10) cell, however it was lined with 10 feet thick of concrete and steel reinforced walls of several inches of thickness.  Try as he might, Donovan was unable to even dent the walls nonetheless break out.  Although the accommodations were still better, and he was actually able to talk to guards and staff at the prison, he was still cut off from the normal population and kept in their Special Handling Unit (SHU). Donovan and the Millhaven Institute's warden saw common grounds in many respects and for the first time in decades, Donovan began to believe he could reform himself.

In 1985, the SHU unit has been 'shutdown' thanks to the government's new liberal agenda...shutdown, except for Donovan's cell, which was still kept active and sequestered as 'off the books'.  That same year, Millhaven's warden was replaced by another one; a warden Donovan knew too well - Warden Al Stevenson from Stony Mountain.  In a taunting meeting, Stevenson threatened Donovan that 'hell was about to look like paradise' before Stevenson would be done with Donovan.  Screaming in anger and despair, Donovan knew that the tortures of Stony Mountain would once again befall him, only worse.  Night after unrelenting night, Donovan screamed himself to sleep in utter despair as the warden cut off Donovan's cell lights and put him on bread and water.

Wanting to kill the warden, Donovan started working out ways to escape his cell to get to him.  Donovan successfully escaped his cell several times that year, but rather than escape the prison, he went after Warden Stevenson, though unsuccessfully. It got to the point the warden actually had to have 'protection' from Donovan's habitual escapes.  Eventually, Stevenson retired, fearful for his life, but not before nearly breaking Donovan with more inhumane prison actions targeted at Donovan. All this did was well up a new level of hate and anger that only fueled Donovan's unsettled mind.

In 1999, Donovan was transferred to a military prison where he was kept in titanium shackles in an ultra secure cell deep underground.  In 2001, late in the evening, Donovan was released by a man known as Colonel Chanteau during a jail break.  Chanteau said he'd free him only if Donovan helped him escape the prison with his troops.  Donovan did, giggling and cackling the whole time as he killed and decimated the guards throughout their escape.  Although Donovan still had no forearms, he was still able to tackle and charge at the guards  with the use of his powers. Eventually, they made it out of the prison and were flown to a remote abandoned underground facility on Wolfe Island, the location that would eventually become his new home.

Although Donovan relished the idea of being free to leave the island, he found himself fascinated with Colonel Chanteau.  It seemed that Chanteau's goals were in sync with Donovan's goals - take out the established order of Canada and make a new empire with them in charge.  As such, Donovan not only elected to stay and join Chanteau's new "United Canadian Empire" (UCE) movement, but insisted to be one of his lead troops to take the battle straight to the Canadians themselves.  Chanteau, now known as Emperor North,  agreed and with the help of a fellow UCE mate, Doctor Phlebotinum, Donovan received his first set of prosthetic arms to fight with.

Over the next few years, Donovan had Doctor Phlebotinum modify the arms to be as strong at steel and to house mini-rocket launchers in them, allowing him to fire missiles while he was in flight.  Earning the new title of "Rocketstro", Donovan soon became a valuable member of the UCE and one of the first members of their super-powered team known as the UCE Enforcers.

Recently, Donovan discovered his roots and that his biological father, Shamus O'Malley, who'd recently passed away, had millions of Pounds of wealth awaiting a 'supposed' family benefactor.  Donovan knew it had to be him, since he was an only child (as far as he knew).  Using lawyers to remotely parlay for his potential inheritance, he discovered that his father had an illegitimate son by way of a prostitute; that son was his half-brother, Kyle O'Brien, otherwise known as the legendary Irish-American superhero, the Irish Fighter.  Try as he could, Donovan was blocked from receiving the inheritance which was officially meant for Kyle.  As such, Donovan and Kyle eventually met and fought.  Both brothers continue to fight each other to this day.  Although Kyle is happy to know he has a half-brother, Donovan could care less and hates Kyle for preventing Donovan from inheriting what he considers to be 'rightfully his' and that his own biological father would rather give the inheritance away to the son of a prostitute that his own flesh and blood mother and father.  During that same time, Donovan discovered his mother had died in the Soltan Star Empire's alien invasion of Earth in 2000, for which no one ever told him about her death or even where she was buried.  He is also completely unaware of another loose familial relationship, by way of Shauna Kavenaugh aka Myriad Woman

Today, Donovan still works with the UCE and the UCE Enforcers and considers himself the hero of the empire.  He is still highly mentally unstable and very murderous.  With over a hundred murder charges added to his growing list of crimes, Donovan is considered to be one of the greatest threats in all of Canada.

Rocketstro is a mutant with the ability to age only 1 year for every 10 years of real time (As of 2015, he is physically only 19 years old, he is actually over 78 years old).  His remarkable endurance allows him to heal ten times faster than a normal person.  His skin provides good protection from physical, energy, radiation and temperate damage.  His excellent strength allows him to lift upward of 400 pounds without effort.  His mutant power allows him to fly up to 700 mph at an altitude to 20,000 feet (with breathing gear); as such, he has been known to break the sound barrier on occasion and accelerate up to Mach 1.1.  His bionic arms house a variety of missile launchers, capable of firing off a total of 50 mini-rockets that can fly via onboard radar and heat-seeking guidance systems up to 900 mph to a range of 10 miles at a maximum altitude of 40,000 feet, with each discharging an excellent explosive blast upon contact.  Rocketstro also wears body armor that adds an additional layer of good protection from threats.  He has a comms device implanted in his head that allows him to monitor a wide variety of communications frequencies especially the UCE's scrambled combat frequencies. His goggles provide protection for flying at speeds over 600 mph and also have an infrared and heat tracking visual enhancement system, allowing him to see heat blooms and see in the dark.

Donovan also keeps two special "shanks" on him at all times; one, a poison-tipped blade used for killing Warden Stevenson when he finally finds him, and the other, a titanium blade for killing his half-brother, Kyle, the Irish Fighter.


Yukon

 

Edward Labelle ('Cheatin' Ed')

HISTORY

Ed Labelle was a gold prospector and all around thief, claim jumper and murderer during the Klondike Gold Rush between 1896 and 1899.  A Canadian-born wilderness man from the woods of Caribou, Ontario, he lived a rough life.  Always looking to make a quick dollar, he'd kill Natives/First People, hunt game for furs and hides and prospect rivers and creeks for copper, silver and gold.  In his journeys, Ed picked up the nickname "Cheatin' Ed" for cheating people out of their fair share of what they'd earned teaming with Ed.  Most of the disputes ended in Ed killing the other party and taking his things.  As such, Ed's reputation in Ontario quickly led to the Mounted Police to track him down and arrest him.  Taking the hint, Ed left Ontario and made his way west.

By 1895, Ed made his way to a town called Skagway up in the Alaskan panhandle region in a disputed territory claimed by both the United States and Canada at that time.  There, Ed found his calling - lying, cheating, swindling and killing.  Under the leadership of the town's most powerful con-man, Jefferson "Soapy" Smith, Ed became one of Soapy Smith's lieutenants, leading thieves and ruffians from Smith's self-created Skaguay Military Company. At about the same time, prospectors came down from the mountains with loads of gold.  By 1896, raids of prospectors, over 100,000 of them, were making their way to the Klondike in search of gold.  Skagway by that time was considered even by the North-West Mounted Police (NWMP) as 'little better than Hell on Earth".  Ed worked the region between Skagway and another town a few hundred miles closer to the gold boom area known as Dawson City.  During that time, Ed was claim jumping people's rightfully purchased claims by ensuring the claim's owners couldn't make it back to their properties in three day's time, which was considered a rule in those parts that any claim left unattended for 3 days was available for others to take over.  As such, Ed soon had others working his 'claims', raking in thousands of dollars a day, however, his profits and claims were not told to Soapy Smith, who eventually found out about Ed's actions and decided to take him out and 'claim' Ed's claims for himself.

In October of 1897, Ed's luck finally turned bad on him. Ed came across a local Husan Native Indian whom Ed enjoyed belittling.  In a drunken stupor, Ed demanded the Husan Native to give him his most valuable item he had for his life, figuring the native would hand over either gold, money or his wife.  INstead, the native reluctantly handed him a pouch with an ancient wooden totem carving.  Ed, disgusted by the totem, shot the native dead.  Ed took the totem from its pouch, threw the pouch onto the muddied street and pocketed the wooden totem.  That night, Soapy Smith and his 'military company' caught up with Ed and shot him dead on site. As Ed lay dying he grabbed the wooden totem from his pocket and looked at it as he died, considering the irony of what he'd done earlier in the day.  Almost immediately, as Ed died, a massive snowstorm rolled into the area.  Soapy Smith and his men barely found shelter before the two day storm covered the area in over four feet of snow.  Unable to determine where Ed's claim was, Soapy Smith left, expecting to return in the spring and claim all of Ed's claims as his own.  Soapy, however, didn't survive until the spring, being killed in a shootout not long after he killed Ed.

For nearly the next 94 years, Ed's body, the claim and the land around the claim remained in a perpetual snow-covered state.  Even when the spring thawed the grounds, the area that Ed died met with freak snow storms, keeping the area covered in dozens of feet of snow even throughout the summer period.  Most locals considered the land cursed and stayed away from it.

In 2001, after Earth had driven back the invading alien Soltan Star Empire invaders, a survey team alighted upon the site where Ed had been gunned down, not looking for Ed, but for evidence if the Soltans had left any bases in the region.  Instead, they discovered the snow-covered remains of Ed's claims and Ed's corpse.  Historical archaeologists descended upon the site and began uncovering it.  Even with intense freak snow storms raging, the archaeologists continued to excavate the site's secrets.  That's when they found Ed...but not the Ed we all just read about and hated...

The archaeologists found Ed's dead body encased from head to toe in a super-dense series of hardened ice layers that they couldn't cut through.  Using lasers, jackhammers, chisels and ice picks, the archaeologists weren't able to penetrate the ice; whenever the ice was pierced, it simply reformed around the damaged area much like a scab to a skin cut, but at a cosmically accelerated rate. Finally, a brave (or stupid) archaeologist decided to try and cut away the wooden totem seen in Ed's dead hands.  With lasers on full, they finally pierced enough icy layers that the laser came drastically close to the idol's wooden surface.  At that moment, Ed, in his new massive icy armored form, came to life.  He killed all the archaeologist on the site by simply bashing them with his powerful ice-laden fists and a fashioned ice hammer he'd created out of thin air.  After killing the dozen or so archaeologists, Ed began to take in what had happened to him.  Ed ran into the woods to try and distance himself from all that had and was happening.

After a few days, Ed realized that ole Soapy Smith had shot Ed dead, but somehow, thanks to the ancient totem, Ed was reanimated as a powerful ice creature.  With no idea how much time had passed, he went back to the site where he'd killed the archaeologists and rifled through their belongings, only to find the year to be 2001. Ed dug around his old claim site and pulled out the bags of gold he'd hidden the night before.  In his day, the gold was valued at over $70,000, however that same gold was now worth well over a $1 million dollars today.  Ed strode over the hills with his two old wooden casks of gold, hoping somehow he'd be able to cash them in and figure out what was happening to him.  Instead, as he came over the last hill to the river below, he saw several 'horseless carriages' with flashing lights and what seemed to be futuristic NWMPs pointing guns at him.  Before Ed was able to say anything, the police opened fire on the 'ice creature', blasting away at Ed's icy armored frame.  Ed dropped the barrels of gold and attacked the police, brushing the vehicles with enough strength to send one sailing nearly 300 yards away.  The police continued to fire at the advancing icy Ed creature, but the bullets simply bounced off of Ed's new self.  Ed killed the policemen with impunity, roaring as he did so.  It wasn't until moments later that one of Canada's premiere superheroes, Commander Canada himself, arrived on the scene and began to fight Ed.  Overwhelmed with Commander Canada's energy beams, flight and power, Ed ran back into the woods without his gold filled barrels, only realizing he'd dropped them later that night dozens of miles into the snowy wilderness.  Commander Canada did not give pursuit, but instead, he took the barrels of gold and had the police force claim if for the families of those the creature had killed, all $1.2 million dollars worth of gold.

Over the next few days, Ed learned about the 21st century by peering into the windows of houses in the region and watching their TVs or reading dispensed newspapers in the local trash dumpsters.  He was in shock at how the world had progressed, and here he was, a powerful ice monster with no idea how to become Ed again, if it was even possible to be Ed again. Ed still had the totem with him, however, it seemed 'depowered' and spent, as if it didn't have an ju-ju (magic) left in it for Ed to try and use to change back. Instead, Ed grew angrier over all that was happening to him. Once night, while watching TV through a family's house window, Ed saw the news story about the fight between him and the man now identified as Commander Canada.  In the news report, he saw Commander Canada giving away the two barrels of Ed's gold to the police.

Ed roared with primal fury.

He ran back to the town he'd encountered Commander Canada in and began destroying the town, destroying buildings, tossing cars around like Frisbees, and most notably, demolishing the town's police station while looking for his gold, which was nowhere to be found. Instead, Commander Canada arrived once again almost a 1/2 hour into Ed's destruction of the town. Ed demanded his gold back, only for Commander Canada to state it was forfeit due to the place murders Ed had committed.  Ed instead went into a rant about him being the best killer in the Yukon, claiming that the word Yukon best described him, since the word was a native word meaning 'the best'.

With his speech done (caught on live TV by the local news station), Ed commenced defeating Commander Canada. Severely.  In the end, Commander Canada had to be hospitalized for nearly a year as a result of his encounter with Ed, now called by the world's media as the 'Yukon monster', later shortened to simply 'Yukon'.  Ed, realizing there was nothing left for him to destroy in the town, left again for the wilderness to contemplate his next move.  Luckily for him, it wasn't long before fate found Ed.

After a week of wandering the Yukon hills, Ed was contacted by men in a helicopter that wanted to talk with him.  Although leery of their intentions, Ed motioned them to talk with him.  From the helicopter emerged a defamed and wanted criminal of a previous Canadian military special forces leader known as Colonel Chanteau.  Using his charm and his ability to 'stretch the truth', Chanteau fired up a dialog with Ed, finding out who and what he was.  After several hours of discussion, Chanteau offered to try and help Ed get his original body back, but in the mean time, Chanteau wanted to enlist Ed to help him take back Canada and the United States and make it an empire under Chanteau's control.  ed was not a dumb man, and knew a con-man when he saw one.  However, rather than kill Chanteau or decline the offer, Ed took it, knowing that if he was try and revert back to his own form, or to figure out how to operate in this century, he'd need to learn all there was about them first.

With that, Ed, now named "Yukon", became a founding member of Chanteau's forces, calling the super-powered team the United Canadian Empire (UCE) Enforcers. With Ed feeling a bit of deja vu over what was happening much the same way as what Soapy Smith did, Ed decided to play along until he saw an opening that would one day make himself his own "emperor of the north".

Since then, Yukon has learned to master his new ice-based powers and has had several deadly encounters with superheroes.  Ed's lack of morals coupled with his easy desire to kill indiscriminately has made him an extremely dangerous powerhouse unto himself.  Today, however, Yukon will follow Chanteau, now known as "Emperor North" of the UCE, until the time when Ed/Yukon will make his move...

Yukon is a magically empowered ice creature with the magically reanimated skeletal body of Edward LaBelle encased within.  Ed's consciousness is infused in his reanimated skeleton and is the prime source of the magical energies needed to be Yukon.  The wooden idol, now drained of its powers, has no value left to Yukon, since that magical energy in now in Yukon's/Ed's skeleton.  Yukon can produce ice armor thick enough to repel amazingly  powerful attacks, whether physical, energy, heat or radiation.  He is completely impervious to any cold attacks and could survive in the cold of space indefinitely, since he doesn't need to breath or eat.  His amazingly powerful strength can land unearthly blows to his victims, as well as perform ground stomps that could shake homes off their foundations.  With concentration, Yukon can create icy weapons in the form of knives, swords, mallets or spikes, all from his hands.  Currently, Yukon cannot die unless Ed's skeleton is destroyed, and even then, the massive magical energy backlash that would occur would be nearly three times the effect of one of Yukon's hay-maker blows.
