Doctor Detroit (Daniel Dean Troite)
Doctor Troite is a human encased in an android body who is now the head of GUARD's Medical Division.
In 2000, Doctor Dan Troite was a renown American surgeon who specialized in unique medical procedures (think TV series "House") and care. His brilliant deductions and incredible medical analyses made him an invaluable resource in combating some of the most wild medical cases on the planet. As such, he was a multimillionaire who traveled the world in order to perform his job.
A few years ago, the President of the United States mysteriously fell ill after a bitter territorial dispute with the Atlantic Kingdom's dictator, King Dolphin. Medical forensics could not identify the President's ailment The President slipped into a coma within an hour. With no one else to turn to, the US Government contacted Doctor Troite to help the President. Within hours, Doctor Troite to determined the President was suffering from a poisonous reaction to a little known deep sea creature's venom. Since there was no anti-venom available anywhere in the free world for this, it was deduced that the venomous fish had to be captured extract its poison and create an anti-venom; the problem was, that the anti-venom had a seriously short half-life (10 minutes), meaning that the poisonous deep sea fish would have to be caught and processed for anti-venom while still deep in the ocean. To do this, GUARD's SEAGUARD and their "Seaguardians" division was brought in. This was considered Plan A.
The only other option was Plan B; a full blown war with the Atlantic Kingdom to force King Dolphin to give the anti-venom, which everyone knew he would not
Plan A it was.
Plan A was to take the comatose President's body in the Seaguardians SSX-1 submarine, The GSS Paragon City; there, the sub would have to exceed crush depth to get to where the venomous deep sea fish was, bring it aboard, create the anti-venom and inject said anti-venom into the President in less than 10 minutes...which all had to be done in less than 12 hours, deep in the militant front yard of the Atlantic Kingdom's domain, or the President would die.
Everything went like clockwork until the SSX-1 arrived in the Pacific Ocean's Marianas Trench. The trench was the only know location for the poisonous deep sea fish needed; it was also a trench that bristled with hundreds of Atlantic Kingdom warships and troops.
As the Seaguardians in their SSX-1 battled through Atlantic Kingdom's warships and super-powered villains from their Atlantic Guard, a specialized deep sea diver from found the poisonous fish needed and brought it back into the sub amidst SSX-1's ferocious undersea battle. While concocting the anti-venom, the doctor and the deep sea diver both were poisoned by the fish. Ignoring his poisoning, the doctor made the anti-venom. There was only one problem; there was only enough anti-venom for two.
The doctor injected the deep sea diver and the President. Moments later, the doctor started succumbing to the poison as the deep sea diver and the President started getting better. The doctor had less than 15 hours to live, of which, 14 would be required to decompress from their deep sea journey. With the specialized deep sea diver incapable of diving again, the chance and option of getting and finding another poisonous fish, creating anti-venom and administering it to the doctor were deemed impossible (though it wasn't through not trying; but those tales of what the Seaguardians did that day will be told in other passages), since the sub was already severely damaged. The doctor had very little hope of survival.
The only solution that was possible to save the doctor's life was to transfer the doctor's memories and consciousness into the mainframe of the SSX-1's supercomputer then cryogenic freeze the doctor's body and when the opportunity presented itself later, attempt to integrate the doctor's mind and repaired body back together once again, once the body was cured of the poison.
To do this, the only person qualified to perform the operation was the Seaguardian's "Eng". Using her incredible intellect and tinkering skills, Eng was able to successfully transfer the doctor's consciousness to the SSX-1's supercomputer for storage. However, while attempting to cryogenic freeze the doctor's body, a ship-shuddering blast from an Atlantean undersea warship jostled the SSX-1 enough to shoot the frozen body across the space and crash into the ship's frame, smashing the doctor's body into dozens of frozen pieces. The doctor's body was lost, yet his consciousness remained in the sub's computers.
After the SSX-1 limped home from their ordeal, the President awarded the Seaguardians a Presidential Unit Citation and promised to provide whatever funds were necessary to aid in the doctor's recovery. With few options available, everyone, including the doctor, agreed to place his consciousness in an android body. With his conscience ingrained in a new composite material body, the doctor has learned to use the android body better than he used his old flesh one.
As a result of all that transpired, the doctor decided to stay with GUARD and to try and 'give back' to them and the world after all GUARD and the Seaguardians had done for him.
Today, "Doctor Detroit" is GUARD's Medical Division Commander, and although not completely human, he has learned the value of humanity.
Doc Vega (V15-3491)
Alien doctor from the highly structured and civilized Alpha Centauri Empire whose ship crash landed on Earth five years ago and has since volunteered to help GUARD in all things related to saving lives.
Rather than names, Alpha Centuarians are identified by their 'code'; Doctor Vega, in his native name, is known as V15-3491.
In 2009, Doctor Vega's ship, an exploration vessel interested in monitoring Earth and its inhabitants, were attacked by several vessels created by the Galactic Expatriates villain group. Their intent was to commandeer the Alpha Centauri ship and use it as their base of operations in orbit above Earth while attempting to enslave all Terrans for their own demagogic means. In so doing, the Alpha Centaurians instead crashed the ship into the Rio Grande River. Nearly all of the crew died with the exception of a dozen or so. The Galactic Expatriates got away without a scratch. As they were scavenging through the ship's wreckage trying to find weapons and high tech equipment, GUARD's "Astroguardians" super-group arrived and battled the Galactic Expatriates. After driving them away, the Astroguardians found the remaining survivors in the ship's wreckage and tried to nurse them back to health. Since no one knew how to save the varied aliens with their unique physiology, most of them died from their injuries. V15-3491 was severely injured in the crash, however, he was able to see that the GUARD doctors tried everything in their power to save his fellow crew mates.
After V15-3491 was strong enough, he explained to GUARD about the Empire and its peaceful intentions and practices. He told them about the various races and provided the greatest details ever on the renegade aliens that made up most of the Galactic Expatriates. He also explained that there would be no rescue mission for them, since they sent a 'ship compromised' message back to the empire, implying that to rescue attempts should be made. The message doesn't send details, however, the ship's logs were jettisoned on a trajectory back to the Alpha Centauri Empire to back up all that occurred; the problem was, it'd take 10 years to get there. In the meantime, V15-3491 mentioned to GUARD that Earth might be classified a 'hostile' planet until the proof arrived back in the Empire. To that end, V15-3491 agreed to aid the humans in whatever ways he could as a 'healer' until Earth was contacted with the Alpha Centaurians...whenever that may be.
With a life span of over 150 Earth years, V15-3491, only being 45 of those years old, was still a young alien. He has bio-genetically created powers to heal and revive near-death victims, as well as emit powerful energy auras that can strengthen a person's strength, endurance, psyche and/or memory.
Although 'logically' he should be part of GUARD's Astroguardians, the Director of GUARD decided V15-3491 needed to stay a bit closer to the Executive Division should the day come when the Alpha Centaurians arrive. Thus, they chose him to head up a new subdivision in GUARD's Medical Division: Alien Care. V15-3491's extensive knowledge of alien physiology, along with his incredible healing and aura powers, made him a perfect choice for the job; a job V15-3491 was more than happy to volunteer for. With the codename "Ack-Ack" (which he chose himself after seeing a certain Mars Attacks movie, thinking it was funny), the newly named "Doc Vega" has joined GUARD in their peacekeeping and humanitarian missions for Earth.
Doctor Robert Greene
Doctor Greene is a normal, everyday doctor from Atlanta, Georgia. Considered one of the best in the business, Doctor Greene has performed nearly every single surgery known to man, including Brain Surgery. He is a highly intelligent man with a sharp wit and a desire to not let people die. He is cool under pressure and is renown for his speed in completing successful surgeries.
Doctor Greene started working with GUARD in 1990 as a result of looking for more challenges in his career and life; as such, GUARD has not let him down.
His only issue is the fact that he considers himself a ladies man. At the age of 50, the doctor sees his youth fading, but not his youthfulness.
Dr. M.U. Tation (Emily Tashun)
Born outside of Los Alamos, New Mexico, Emily was the daughter to two highly regarded (and highly classified) researchers in the fields of radiation application medicines and mutations. At age 11, Emily discovered she herself was a mutant; a mutant her parents created by submitting her fetus to extreme variations of radiation and mutagen solutions. At age 12, she was 'experimented' on by her parents as a lab rat. After weeks of grueling tests, Emily escaped and ran out into the New Mexico dessert where the nearest home or facility was at least 50 miles away.
While plodding through the dessert, whenever Emily got tired, she'd rest and start to see a green glow emanate from her body and skin. After the glow, she felt refreshed and ready to carry on as if she'd just woken up, fresh as a new day. This occurred two more times until hours later, she found an old gas station and a kind old couple. They took her in, fed her and heard Emily's tale of being her own parent's lab rat. Horrified, they swore they'd take care of her. They called the police to assist. Before the police arrived, Emily's parents and several armed men arrived at the gas station.
They wanted Emily back and 'no' was not an option.
The old couple fought the armed men, shoving them out the front door of their house behind the gas station. That's when the old man was shot. Emily, shrieking is panic, flew to the old man's side to help him. When she touched him, she transferred her green glow from her body to his, healing his through-and-through gun wound as if it had never happened. Emily's parents, ecstatic over what they'd just seen, voiced their demands for more tests back at the lab. As the armed men advanced to take her, Emily turned to them, angered more than she'd ever been, and with a red glow, drained the life essence from three of the four armed men, killing them instantly. She then started doing the same to her parents until the 4th gunman smacked her with the butt of his gun.
As her parents and gunman dragged Emily to their car, the old man broke out his shotgun killing the gunman and winging the father in the leg. Emily groggily crawled from the scene towards the gas pumps, trying to hide. The mother, fearless in her demeanor, took the 4th gunman's rifle and started shooting at the old couple. She hit the old woman in the should and killed both the old man, just as the town sheriff showed up and shot the mother through the heart. As her last dying act, the mother wheeled around to Emily, curled up next to one of the gas pumps and shot in rapid fire, hitting Emily three times and igniting the gas pump, creating a cauldron of fire and flames shooting over a hundred feet into the air.
The only one remaining alive in all of this was the old woman, who was shot in the shoulder, the crippled father and the sheriff...that is, until a burning Emily walked out of the flames. In bands of green light. She'd healed herself with her new-found mutant powers. The father scuffled in and around his vehicle and took off down the road. The sheriff put out an all points bulletin on him and went back to check on the old lady and Emily. Emily's clothes had been burned off, yet she didn't have a mark on her. Emily went over to the old lady to heal her and did so, however, when she tried to revive the old man, she wasn't able to. He was dead.
After everything settled down, the sheriff took Emily and the old lady back to the police station. The father's car was found at what once was their lab facility, now nothing but a smoldering ruin. Indications of a helicopter lifting off from that site prompted the investigators to believe the father and one other person had flown off in a helicopter. They were never found.
Emily was adopted by the kind old lady and was raised by the town folks. In turn, anytime someone got hurt, she helped heal them As a result, the town folks grouped up some of their savings and helped send Emily off to college to become a doctor. Six years after she was sent to Yale University Medical School by those kind folks, she became a doctor.
For the next few years, Emily was involved in dozens of incredible adventures and dangerous situations, each time saving the day with her powers and/or her medical skills. During one such event, GUARD had been involved. She'd saved dozens of guardsmen and women from certain death in a super-villain battle. As such, she was asked to join GUARD. She agreed.
To this day she is known as Dr. Emily Tashun (Tashun being the old couple's last name), however, most in GUARD know her by her codename: Dr. M.U.Tation!
