About the  Astroknights

In 2000, the Soltan Star Empire invaded Earth.  After nine months of occupation, the Soltans retreated from Earth and took off back into space, specifically, the dark side of Mars.  Aside from dozens of discovered Soltan strongholds and hidden monitoring stations left manned by a few hundred remaining Soltans per site, the invasion force literally disappeared from view of Earth.  After nearly a decade and a half later, as the world was finally getting back to normal, an astronomer noticed activity in and around Mars; somehow, the Soltans were still operating on the dark side of Mars, possibly even setting up a massive invasion way point station somewhere on the backside of Mars.  Although repeated attempts to send probes to Mars occurred, the probes always wound up "unresponsive" or "lost".  Earth, through the United Nations and its international force, G.U.A.R.D., set up defense and monitoring stations in orbit all around Earth to detect and initially defend from any further space-faring invasion again.  Until recently, this is, and has been the state of stellar warfare between Earth and the Soltans; Earth has prepared itself for its defense as best it can, all the while knowing that on the dark side of Mars, an unseen, rebuilt Soltan invasion force may exist.

GUARD's space division, ASTROGUARD, for the last decade, has trained and prepared for any form of interstellar attack or war, predominantly from the Soltans.  ASTROGUARD even had a band of superheroes from Earth and several other aliens willing to defend Earth and/or help Earth long enough until they could find a way home to their planets and/or civilizations.  They were called the Astroguardians.  ASTROGUARD and the Astroguardians were trained in space combat, as well as tradiational combat techniques, teamwork and how to operate in space, by a veteran American astronaut named Terrance "Terry" Shaefer, code-named "Star Knight"Star Knight was a relentless workhorse of a leader and trainer as was one of ASTROGUARD's greatest resources...that is, until recently.

Recently, ASTROGUARD found another Soltan Expeditionary Force hidden deep in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado.  The combined forces of GUARD were sent in to the hidden base to defeat them.  Thanks to Star Knight's training, the GUARD strike force surprised the Soltans and within minutes, took control of the Soltan base before the Soltans were ready for the attack.  As such, a plethora of intel was found that had not been destroyed.  Of that intel, it was quickly discovered that the Soltans were indeed well on their way to performing their 2nd invasion of Earth from an enormous invasion launch point from the dark side of Mars.  The United Nations and GUARD kept this information secret from the rest of the world and instead started working on strategies and operations plans to counter the invasion.  After weeks of debate and discussion with some of the brightest military minds and think tanks, it was determined that Earth would not be able to stop a second invasion with its existing resources.  It came down to realizing that a remote chance to stop, hinder or delay the invasion was the only way to counter the Soltans.  Star Knight himself ascertained that a highly-trained band of space-faring combatants could pull off militia-like raids, as was done against the British during the American Revolutionary War, to delay the invasion long enough for Earth to build up its defensive and offensive capabilities.  Everyone involved in the meetings agreed with Star Knight, however, the leaders of the United Nations would not allow or condone what they considered to be 'suicide' attacks against the Soltans just to buy us time.  In a heated discussion, the United Nations and GUARD eventually came to an impasse on an action.  Star Knight truly believed that these militia-type strikes were the only chance for Earth.  Rather than try and continue debating the United Nations and GUARD to take charge of the situation, Star Knight took matters into his own hands: he went to the United Nations president's home and tried to personally persuade the U.N. president on his plan against the Soltans.  The U.N. president heard Star Knight's story and actually started considering the idea, but only for those who'd volunteer for such a task, rather than be ordered to.  As the U.N. President and Star Knight started discussing the details of their agreed upon plan, the UN presidential guards broke into the president's chambers and attacked Star Knight.  The U.N. president demanded the guards to stand down, but as he was telling them so, he had a massive coronary heart attack and fell to the floor dead.  Star Knight, shocked over what he just saw, hesitated long enough to be rendered unconscious by the U.N. Presidential guards.  Star Knight was hauled away to prison as news went out of his purported "assassination" of the U.N. President.

As Star Knight remained detained in solitary confinement in prison, the world mourned the loss of the U.N. President.  The U.N. Vice President took over as the new president and, as his first action as president, called for Star Knight's execution for his crime.  Many wanted Star Knight's blood for the supposed action, however, quite a few important people knew Star Knight would never do such a thing.  International lawyers quickly demanded to represent Star Knight and thanks to the World Court, Star Knight would instead be tried in an international court of law in the Hague and not summarily executed as the new U.N. president wanted. Under extensive social and legal pressure, the new U.N. president abdicated to the World Court's decision, however, the U.N. president went on a media campaign to discredit Star Knight and any who were ever associated with Star Knight...including GUARD.

Over the next few weeks, lawyers visited Star Knight and worked on their legal preparations for trial.  What no one else knew is that these 'lawyers' were loyalists to Star Knight who knew something was 'dirty' about what was happening to him.  The loyalist lawyers told Star Knight they discovered there was a conspiracy afoot at the U.N., however, ironically, the U.N. considered Star Knight as the head of an even greater conspiracy against the United Nations.   Thanks to his lawyers, Star Knight discovered that there were many others who knew he was innocent and wanted what he wanted, all ready to back him up to the death.  Hundreds of human combatants from GUARD and other associated groups, as well as several secretive aliens that worked at GUARD, all wanted to join him in taking the fight to the Soltans. Star Knight had hoped that before his trial was done, the United Nations and GUARD would come to their senses and, regardless of the charges, carry out the plan for the necessary strike force to go to Mars and take the fight to the Soltans. Instead, the U.N. and its legal team implied to the world that Star Knight was a 'mentally disturbed' man with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) from his time fighting during the Soltan Invasion in 2000 and instead needed mental health treatment as part of what was deduced to be a slam-dunk case in prosecuting Star Knight for his assassination of the U.N. president.  There were even threats of a death mark against Star Knight by the assassination guild known as Death Legion. Before the trial started, however, Star Knight and his followers set a secretive plan into motion; a plan that could either get hundreds of people jailed and killed...or save Earth.

Two days before his trial, Star Knight was being transported from his prison location to the airport to fly to the trial location.  Enroute, Star Knight was rescued, as planned, by his fellow loyalists and driven to a GUARD base a half hour's drive away that had an exosphere supply space shuttle that was bound to travel to another secretive location in orbit around Earth - an orbiting drydock.  Star Knight was loaded onto the shuttle by way of a cargo container which was loaded onto the shuttle without any officials knowing anything different. The shuttle launched without incident and made its way to the orbiting drydock with Star Knight hidden away in the container.  Once his container was unloaded at the drydock, several of Star Knight's loyalists, dressed as drydock crewmen and women, got him out of the container and began the next phase of their operation: the theft of the only combat-ready starship Earth had ever created up to this point - Terracer 1.

While aboard the orbiting drydock that housed Terracer 1, Star Knight met with his loyalists and quickly reviewed the plan to take over Terracer 1 without killing anyone.  Not only did they need to get the loyalists onboard the ship, they had to get the original non-loyalist crew off of the ship, again without harming a single person.  In what played out as a seamless covert military operation, Star Knight's loyalists set off radiation alarms on the drydocked Terracer 1 ship, donned anti-radiation suits (which covered their faces and bodies so no one would recognize them) and made their way onto Terracer 1 as a radiation response team.  Within minutes, the ship's crew were safely taken off the ship and Star Knight's new crew of loyalists were in control of it.  After rapidly disconnecting several docking clamps and service connections, the ship quickly got underway and made its way out into space.  After about 100 miles from Earth, several Starfighter-series Exospheric fighter planes from the drydock, led by squadron leader, Captain Alex McDonald AKA "Starfighter", intercepted Terracer 1.  McDonald was given direct orders by the new U.N. President to destroy Terracer 1 at all costs.  Instead, McDonald called Terracer 1 and requested permission to personally land his fighter on Terracer 1 and discuss the situation.  Star Knight's crew knew it was a delaying tactic, however, a majority of the loyalist crew also knew McDonald to be a fair man of conviction with a wisdom well beyond his station.  At great risk to the new Terracer 1 crews' plans, Star Knight agreed to the meeting.

Star Knight and Captain McDonald met in the hangar bay of Terracer 1. McDonald told Star Knight he had 2 minutes to convince him not to let his fellow fighter pilots, who were maneuvering around Terracer 1 in a strike pattern, destroy the ship.  Star Knight explained what he knew, only for McDonald to counter each of what no considered Star Knight's "delusional" and "conspiracy theory" ideas.  Just as McDonald was about to order his pilots to attack, both the crew from Terracer 1 and the second-in-command of McDonald's Starfighter squadron alerted everyone that 10 inbound nuclear missiles were heading toward them from Earth and would intercept them in less than a minute.  McDonald looked at Star Knight and said 'request permission to join your crew, Captain', and a curt response from Star Knight being 'granted! Get your fighter pilots on board NOW!!'.  In an incredible display of high-speed formation flying the entire squadron landed their fighters in the hanger bay in 30 seconds.  Once the last fighter was onboard, Star Knight ordered the ship to full speed.  Even though the ship was making headway, it was definitely unable to outrun the nuclear missiles.  All seemed that all was lost until a bit of a cosmic miracle happened in the name of the Exiler.

With the nuclear missiles less than a mile away and 20 seconds from impact and detonation, the Exiler stopped the missiles and Terracer 1 dead in space with a wave of his hand.  Exiler then shot around Terracer 1's hull and flew toward the ship's hangar bay doors.  Before Star Knight could order the doors opened for this strange yet cosmically powerful being, Exiler phased through the doors and right into the hangar bay.  A couple minutes later, Star Knight, after running from the bridge, appeared in the hangar bay with Captain McDonald in tow.  As the crew-members gathered in the hangar bay looked on in uncertainty at Exiler, Star Knight greeted Exiler with a smile, a simple handshake and a 'hello'.  Exiler seemed unsure of the gesture, but accepted the handshake. Star Knight attempted to use universal body language to name himself and Captain McDonald and then motioned to Exiler for his name, with the response as "Exiler".  Over the next few minutes, a couple of the ship's alien loyalists arrived at the hangar bay. One such alien, Thesiliss, knew of Exiler and adjusted his universal translator device to that of Exiler's native specie's language - Erantean.  With that, a dialog started between Exiler and the two Captains.  Exiler wanted to know why Earth wanted to destroy them and what crime they'd committed.  Star Knight stated that their only crime was their attempt to fight the Soltans who wanted to invade Earth again and that Earth's people were not at fault for the attack against the ship, but instead were pawns of a group of leaders that didn't understand their course of action.  Exiler went quiet for a minute, seemingly pondering Star Knight's words. When Exiler finally spoke, it was indeed shocking.  Exiler stated that he was a cosmically powered judge, jury and jailer who 'exiles' those he judges as criminals to the galaxy's natural order.  Exiler stated he had now heard the Captains' story and would now go to Earth to get their story and then...pass judgement.  With that, Exiler phased through the hangar doors once again and left for Earth, all the while the nuclear missiles and Terracer 1 floated in space, unable to move.

Exiler flew to Earth at phenomenal speed.  There he encircled Earth several times an chose a landmark that he dubbed at monumental enough to warrant a leader's post - the Great Pyramids of Egypt.  There, Exiler swept down to a main road leading to the largest of the pyramids, simply called "The Great Pyramid".  He then encountered a tour group on the road.  The tour group just happened to be a group from the United Kingdom (Great Britain).  Exiler greeted them with the same way Star Knight did - a smile, an extended hand for a handshake and a 'hello'.  The British tourists were obviously scared of the alien before them - all except one little girl.  She walked up to him without fear and shook his hand.  Exiler bent down to his knee to look the child in the eyes.  Even though he tried talking to the girl in his native Erante language, she seemed to not understand.  Perplexed, he tried talking to the tour group, but was met with fearful and quizzical stares instead.  The little girl positioned herself between the tour group (and her fearful parents) and motioned to be picked up.  With even greater puzzlement, Exiler did as the child motioned him to do.  The little girl then hugged him and gave him a kiss.  With that, the Exiler became emotional.  He kissed the little girl on the forehead, hugged her, and placed her back on her feet.  Tears flowed from the Exiler's eyes and as the quiet standoff continued, a couple of the tour group cried in response.  Exiler nodded to them, said something in Erante to them all, and cupped his hand under the little girl's chin and gave her a long look with a tearful smile.  Exiler then backed away and flew back up into space and back to Terracer 1.

Back on Terracer 1, the Exiler once again phased through the hangar doors and met with the two captains.  Again, using Thesillis' universal translator device, Exiler asked the captain why the beautiful, kind and loving people of Earth wanted Terracer 1 dead.  The two captains described to Exiler all that had happened to them; the Soltan Invasion, the threat of a 2nd invasion, the UN president's heart attack and their subsequent theft of Terracer 1 to use to help give Earth time to save themselves.  As the conversation continued, Exiler seemed to get more upset by the minute.  At one point, Star Knight asked Exiler why he seemed so upset. Exiler responded that in all the races, planets and civilizations he's come across, he's never met a more kinder and beautiful people than those of Earth.  As such, he also said he was conflicted over the situation, causing him for the first time in his cosmic life to actually 'defer' a judgement.  With that, Exiler instead  stated he would now monitor the actions of Terracer 1 by becoming a member of his crew.  Only through this action would an eventual judgement be considered over time.  Exiler stated that he should be treated as a Terracer 1 crew member, but only to the extent that any combat involvement he'd be part of was in saving the life of the crew members, and for no other reason, unless he himself was forced to perform a 'judgement'.    With this strange turn of events, Exiler returned the nuclear missiles to Earth, placing them each at their respective missile silos (that the Terracer 1 crew confirmed of their source locations) and rejoined the Terracer 1 ship, releasing it from its unmoving state, and allowing Terracer 1 to continue on its journey, with him onboard as a part of the crew.

Today, Terracer 1, its crew, the Starfighter squadron and a small group of super-powered beings and aliens, all under the command of Star Knight, are still considered traitorous thieves and pirates by the United Nations and GUARD for their actions, with bounties on each of their heads starting at $250,000, with Star Knight's bounty at $25 million.  Captain McDonald, now taking the name "Starfighter", has become Star Knight's new Executive Officer and 2nd in command.  Exiler in his strange, alien way, continues to interact and help the crew as he deems necessary, but cultural gaps and the crew's fears of Exiler's powers keeps them all at arm's length from interacting with Exiler, even though he now has a universal translator device to talk to them with.

Terracer 1 is now considered an outlaw vessel and crew and is not allowed any support from Earth or its people and if the ship were ever to return to Earth's orbit, no negotiations or surrender would be accepted, but only, as the UN President's new World Directives states, its destruction and a death sentence to any of her crew, regardless of race or creed.  Star Knight now calls his loyalists his 'crew', and in addition to that, his crew to be "Astroknights".  Together, the Astroknights are taking the fight to the Soltans, even if Earth's leaders would rather kill them instead.  As far as Earth's social media is concerned, many millions of people across the planet believe Star Knight and his Astroknights to be Earth's unsung 'heroes'.

On a side note, several unauthorized and stealthy supply rockets from Earth have intercepted Terracer 1 while it continues its slow journey to Mars.  It seems some organization or group of people on Earth are secretly trying to help the Astroknights in their venture, but at extreme risk to themselves should they be discovered.  The last supply rocket even contained 10 new crew members, consisting of people who volunteered to join the Astroknights, in their quest to aid the crew of Terracer 1 in their eventual and potentially deadly encounter with the warlike Soltans on the dark side of Mars.

HISTORY

Born in South Boston, Terry grew as a "Southie" in the rough part of the Irish community.  In his youth, he was forced by his parents to focus on his school work rather than hang out with the trouble-making neighborhood kids.  Although he still got into trouble in his younger years, he never got arrested nor did he perform any act that warranted an arrest; the same couldn't be said for his neighborhood friends.  He went to Oliver Hazard Perry School during his younger years, and eventually attended South Boston High School. By age 17, he was considered the smartest kid in the district as well as an all-American athlete.  He played football and baseball and did track & field sports, garnering dozens of state titles and awards for his athleticism.  During his senior year in high school in 2000, the Soltan Star Empire invaded Earth, including Boston and his South Boston neighborhood.  The invasion changed his life forever.

During the invasion, Soltan troops created a base in South Boston's Pleasure Bay near Fort Independence.  They landed one of their large transport and command ships in the bay and used the nearby Medal of Honor park as the place for their troop patrols to operate from.  Terry rallied a bunch of his Southie high school friends and acquaintances and planned and executed raids on the Soltan patrols throughout South Boston.  All in all, he and his "Southie Knights" (his team's name was based on his high school football team, the South Boston High School Knights) killed dozens of Soltan troops and destroyed tons of Soltan munitions and weapons.  Their efforts basically made them the equivocal of an underground South Boston militia unit.

At one point, Terry's Southie Knights were being chased by a Soltan patrol towards the waterfront.  Knowing they were outgunned and in big trouble escaping, Terry had his team dodge into a warehouse known to be frequented by the few remaining well-armed mobsters in town.  Terry and his team barged into the warehouse to be met by over three dozen mobsters sporting weapons from baseball bats to machine guns.  As the Soltan patrol charged into the warehouse, the mobsters and the Southie Knights obliterated the Soltan patrol with their sheer numbers, weapons and Southie attitude.  Although the warehouse was later destroyed by the Soltans, the mob bosses in South Boston decided to team up with the Southie Knights and take out the alien invaders as best they could, when they could.  As a result, the rival gangs, for the first time in history, actually teamed up and worked together to kill Soltans.  Terry was considered an honorary 'family' member to each mob family involved, and the Southie Knights were considered heroes to the mobsters as well as the local families living in South Boston.

Eventually, Terry's actions got him recognized by the Soltans.  The Soltan commander and a dozen troops went to Terry's home and executed his parents as Terry watched in hiding from across the street.  His anger gave way to a renewed focus to hurt the Soltan invaders worse than ever.  Two days later, the Southie Knights amassed nearly 200 lbs of C4 explosives and dozens of gallons of homemade napalm 'on loan' from some of the local mobsters and set up a raid on the Soltan transport floating in the center of Pleasure Bay.  Although three dozen Southie Knights and mobsters died in the raid, the transport and command ship was destroyed , along with thousands of Soltan troops, in a massive fiery explosion thanks to Terry and his audacity.  As a result, the Soltans actually 'left' South Boston because it was 'too dangerous' for their troops to operate out of.  Once South Boston was considered "alien free", Terry and his Southie Knights acted as a militia over in Boston proper for the next few months, killing dozens more Soltans in their raids.

Eventually, a special weapon design was leaked out across the black internet.  Terry and his Southie Knights crafted dozens of these weapons from scratch and started taking out Boston Soltan strongholds in the closing months of the invasion.  By August 2000, all of the invading Soltans had been routed from Earth.  Terry was awarded the Medal of Freedom by the President of the United States for his actions, as were dozens of his other Southie Knights (and even a couple mobsters), most, unfortunately, posthumously. Due to his fame, his medal and his pre-invasion academic and athletic skills, Terry was allowed to write his own ticket to be whatever he wanted to be.  He decided to attend the US Army's West Point Military Academy and with that earn a commission as an officer in the US Army.

After his 4-year stint at West Point, earning a degree in military science, he became an officer in the US Army's 1st Special Forces Group (SFG), also known as the "Green Berets".  Over the next few years, he was involved in five back-to-back combat tours across the globe.  Each operation he planned and execute with his troops was not only considered successful, but usually yielded even more results than expected.  For his actions, he was awarded several high level medals and was quickly promoted to the rank of Captain.  On his fifth and final combat tour, Terry was shot several times when an unknown enemy cell arrived in force against his unit.  Everyone made it out of the operation alive, but some had to be medically discharged due to their injuries.  Terry was hospitalized for months as a result of his injuries.  With a true Soltan Invasion war hero being almost killed in action, the US Army's brass decided to reassign Terry to their less dangerous "Space Command" division in Hawaii.  Terry fought against the posting, but was ordered to shut up about it and take the down time as a reward for his actions thusfar.  Unhappy with his new 'desk job', he resigned his commission and joined a new venture he'd learned of while at Space Command known as "G.U.A.R.D.".  GUARD happily accepted him into their ranks and posted him into their ASTROGUARD division as a tactical military leader and trainer.  As far as Terry was concerned, GUARD's ASTROGUARD division was a good fit for him, although he longed to be part of the more ground-based military division known as TERRAGUARD.

Over the next few years, Terry not only learned how to operate in space aboard GUARD's new Fort Armstrong Moonbase and their associated GUARD satellites, but also began to fuse his skills in military tactics for space combat, which no one up to that time had done other than ASTROGUARD's leader, Vladimir Vorisch. As such, he became GUARD's leader in space combat, earning the relevant codename "Star Knight"Terry was a relentless workhorse of a leader and trainer in his space combat abilities, all of which were used on several occasions while fighting discovered hidden Soltan monitoring stations left in Earth's orbit.  His skills were compounded after he discovered a Soltan training manual for space combat techniques, wherein Terry began teaching his GUARD troops not only the Soltan techniques but ways to counter the Soltans in space combat as well.

Recently, ASTROGUARD discovered a Soltan Expeditionary Force base hidden deep in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado.  The combined forces of GUARD were sent in to the hidden base to defeat them, and, thanks to Terry's training and tactical assault plan, the GUARD strike force surprised the Soltans completely.  As such, a plethora of intel was found at the base that the Soltans had no time to destroy.  Of that intel, it was quickly discovered that the Soltans were indeed well on their way to performing their 2nd invasion of Earth from an enormous invasion launch point from the dark side of Mars.  Terry was included as part of a blue ribbon panel and tactical analysis team to determine the breadth of the intel, which quickly pointed to the fact that the Soltans were getting ready for a second invasion of Earth from their fortifications on the dark side of Mars.

Terry and dozens of other internationally renown strategists determined that Earth would not be able to stop a second invasion with its existing resources and weapons.  Terry led the discussion in establishing a plan to hinder or delay the invasion as the only way to counter the Soltans, thus allowing Earth the precious time it needed to bolster its defenses and prepare for the forthcoming second Soltan invasion.  He ascertained that a highly-trained band of space-faring combatants could pull off militia-like raids, as was done against the British during the American Revolutionary War (and notably, like his "Southie Knights").  Everyone involved in the meetings agreed with Terry, however, the leaders of the United Nations would not allow or condone what they considered to be 'suicide' attacks against the Soltans just to buy us time.  In a heated discussion, the United Nations and Terry eventually came to an impasse on an action.  Terry truly believed that these militia-type strikes were the only chance for Earth.  Rather than try and continue debating the United Nations and GUARD to take charge of the situation, Terry took matters into his own hands: he went to the United Nations president's home and tried to personally persuade the U.N. president on his plan against the Soltans; a decision that would soon label him as a madman.

Using his special forces training, Terry snuck into the UN President's home to persuade him of his plan of action to counter the Soltan forces amassing against Earth.  Although initially started, the UN President was actually interested to hear what Terry had to say about the matter and challenged Terry to change his mind regarding the militia-style attacks.  After an hour of discussion, the UN president actually started considering Terry's idea as the only viable solution available.  The UN President asked Terry if he'd be willing to lead the necessary troops in such an operation, for which Terry readily agreed to do.  As the UN President and Terry were about to order an emergency UN security council meeting to approve Terry's plan, the UN presidential guards broke into the president's chambers and attacked Terry (seeing as how Terry snuck in and up to this time, no one knew Terry and the UN President were in their unofficial meeting).  The U.N. president demanded the guards to stand down, but as he was telling them so, he had a massive coronary heart attack and fell to the floor dead.  Terry, shocked over what he just saw, hesitated long enough to be rendered unconscious by the UN Presidential guards.  Terry was then hauled away to prison as news went out of his purported "assassination" of the UN President.

As Terry remained detained in solitary confinement in prison, the world mourned the loss of the UN President.  The UN Vice President took over as the new president and, as his first action as president, called for Terry's execution for his purported crime.  Many wanted Terry's blood for the supposed action, however, everyone who knew Terry also knew he'd never do anything like assassinate a UN President, no matter what the situation was.  International lawyers quickly demanded to represent Terry and thanks to the World Court, he'd instead be tried in an international court of law in the Hague and not summarily executed as the new UN President wanted. Under extensive social and legal pressure, the new UN President unhappily abdicated to the World Court's decision.  Instead, the UN President went on a social media tirade denigrating anyone who ever knew or was trained by "Star Knight" (the UN President didn't want to 'humanize' Terry, thus, he didn't like calling Terry by his proper name).

Over the next few weeks, lawyers visited Star Knight and worked on their legal preparations for trial.  What no one else knew is that these 'lawyers' were some of the guys from Terry's "Southie Knights" team during the Soltan Invasion that had changed their names and used their Medal of Freedom benefits to earn law degrees to use to represent the local mobsters (and in one case, their own crime family) in South Boston.  Even though Terry and his old Southie Knights troop-lawyers had gone polar opposites in career and life choices, they still took care of one another.

Prior to Terry's trial, the UN President had convinced the world that Terry was now the head of an even greater conspiracy against the United Nations. Thanks to Terry's 'lawyers', Terry learned that there were many others who knew he was innocent and wanted what he wanted, all ready to back him up to the death.  Hundreds of human combatants from GUARD, ASTROGUARD and other associated groups, as well as several undisclosed-to-the-public other-world aliens that worked at GUARD, all wanted to join him in taking the fight to the Soltans. Terry had hoped that before his trial was done, the United Nations and GUARD would come to their senses and, regardless of the charges, carry out the plan for the necessary strike force to go to Mars and take the fight to the Soltans. Instead, the U.N. and its legal team implied to the world that Terry was a 'mentally disturbed' man with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) from his time fighting during the Soltan Invasion in 2000 and instead needed mental health treatment as part of what was deduced to be a slam-dunk case in prosecuting Terry for his assassination of the U.N. president.  To add to this, underground internet groups discovered a secretive contract had been taken out to Death Legion to kill/assassinate Terry even before he was to show for trial.  Once Terry was told of this, he knew he had to get out of prison and set his secretive plan into motion; a plan that could either get hundreds of people jailed and killed...or save all of Earth.

Two days before the trial, Terry was to be escorted to the airport to be flown in for his trial.  During the trip to the airport, Terry was rescued from his captors by a band of his loyalist friends.  No one was hurt in the encounter, but now Terry was a fleeing international fugitive from justice.  In the hour it took Terry's transport guards to inform the authorities of Terry's escape, Terry was instead driven to a GUARD base a half hour from the rescue location.  The GUARD base was the launch site for a new exospheric space shuttle that routinely transported supplies to GUARD's suborbital satellites and another unique yet secretive location - an orbiting drydock.  Terry was covertly stuffed into a cargo container that was quickly loaded onto the shuttle. The shuttle launched an hour later, on its way to the aforementioned orbiting drydock.  After the shuttle docked with the drydock, Terry's container was unloaded by several of Terry's loyalists disguised as drydock crewmen and women. Once cleared of the container, Terry saw for the first time, something that no one had ever told him about: the ship that was taking up space in the drydock; the first and only sizable space-faring, combat-ready starship Earth had ever created up to this point - Terracer 1.

On Terracer 1, Star Knight met with other disguised loyalists and quickly formulated a plan to take over the ship without killing anyone, as well as get the loyalists onboard the ship and if all went to plan, steal the ship. As part of phase one of their plan, Terry's loyalists set off radiation alarms on the drydocked Terracer 1 ship, donned anti-radiation suits (which covered their faces and bodies so no one would recognize them) and made their way onto Terracer 1 as a radiation response team.  Within minutes, the original ship's crew were safely taken off the ship and Terry's new crew of loyalists replaced them on the ship.  After rapidly disconnecting several docking clamps and service connections, the ship quickly got underway and made its way out into space.  Now with phase one done, phase two was the next hurdle: get out and away from Earth as fast as they could before Earth's defense could stop them.

After about 100 miles from Earth, several Starfighter-series Exospheric fighter planes based at the drydock, led by squadron leader, Captain Alex McDonald AKA "Starfighter", intercepted Terracer 1.  McDonald was given direct orders by the new UN President to destroy Terracer 1 at all costs.  Instead, McDonald called Terracer 1's "pirates', as he called them, and requested permission to personally land his fighter on Terracer 1 and discuss the terms of the pirates' surrender.  Terry's crew knew it was a delaying tactic, however, a majority of the loyalist crew also knew McDonald to be a fair man of principle with a wisdom well beyond his station.  At great risk to Terry's own plans, he agreed to the meeting with Captain McDonald.

Terry and Captain McDonald met in the hangar bay of Terracer 1. McDonald told Terry he had 2 minutes to convince him not to order his fellow fighter pilots to destroy the ship.  Terry explained what he knew, only for McDonald to counter each of what he considered to be Terry's "delusional" and "conspiracy theory" ideas.  Just as McDonald was about to order his pilots to attack, both the crew from Terracer 1 and the second-in-command of McDonald's Starfighter squadron alerted everyone that 10 inbound nuclear missiles were heading toward them from Earth and would intercept them in less than a minute. McDonald knew they'd both been set up by the UN President at this point.  McDonald looked at Star Knight and said 'request permission for me and my crew to join your crew, Captain', with Terry responding, 'Granted!', and telling McDonald to get his fellow pilots to land onboard Terracer immediately to potentially shield them from the expectant deadly blast.  In an incredible display of high-speed formation flying the entire squadron landed their fighters in the hanger bay in 30 seconds.  Once the last fighter touched down, Terry ordered the ship to full speed.  Even though the ship was making headway, it was definitely unable to outrun the nuclear missiles.  All seemed lost until a bit of a cosmic miracle happened in the name of the Exiler.

With the nuclear missiles less than a mile away and 20 seconds from impact and detonation, the Exiler stopped the incoming missiles and Terracer 1 dead in space with a wave of his hand.  Exiler then shot around Terracer 1's hull and flew toward the ship's hangar bay doors.  Before Terry could order the hangar bay airlock doors opened for this strange yet cosmically powerful being, Exiler phased through the doors and right into the hangar bay.  Both Terry and McDonald greeted the Exiler with a smile, a simple handshake and a 'hello'.  Exiler seemed unsure of the gesture, but accepted the handshake. Terry attempted to use universal body language to name himself and Captain McDonald and then motioned to Exiler for his name, with the response as "Exiler".  Over the next few minutes, a couple of the ship's alien loyalists arrived at the hangar bay. One such alien, Thesiliss, knew of the Exiler and adjusted his universal translator device to that of Exiler's native specie's language - Erantean.  With that, a dialog started between Exiler and the two captains.  Exiler wanted to know why Earth wanted to destroy them and what crime they'd committed.  Star Knight stated that their only crime was their attempt to protect Earth from the Soltans who wanted to invade Earth again and that Earth's people were not at fault for the attack against the ship, but instead were pawns of a group of leaders that didn't understand the necessity of Terracer 1's actions.  Exiler went quiet for a minute, seemingly pondering Terry's words. When Exiler finally spoke, it was indeed shocking.  Exiler stated that he was a cosmically powered judge, jury and jailer who 'exiles' those he judges as criminals to the galaxy's natural order.  Exiler stated he had now heard the Captains' testimony and would now go to Earth to get their testimony and then...pass judgement.  With that, Exiler phased through the hangar doors once again and left for Earth, all the while the nuclear missiles and Terracer 1 floated in space, unable to move.

Exiler flew to Earth at phenomenal speed.  There he circled Earth several times an chose a landmark that he dubbed at monumental enough to warrant a leader's post - the Great Pyramids of Egypt.  There, Exiler swept down to a main road leading to the largest of the pyramids, simply called "The Great Pyramid".  He then encountered a tour group on the road.  The tour group just happened to be a group from the United Kingdom (Great Britain).  Exiler greeted them with the same way Terry and McDonald did to him: a smile, an extended hand for a handshake and a 'hello'.  The British tourists were obviously scared of the alien before them - all except one little girl.  She walked up to him without fear and shook his hand and said 'hello, mister alien'.  Exiler bent down to his knee to look the child in the eyes.  He tried talking to the girl in his native Erante language, but the girl obviously didn't understand him, nor did he understand her words. Perplexed, Exiler tried talking to the tour group, but was met with fearful and quizzical stares and silence instead.  The little girl positioned herself between the tour group (and her fearful parents) and motioned to Exiler to be picked up.  With even greater puzzlement, Exiler did as the child motioned him to do.  The little girl then hugged him and gave him a kiss on the cheek.  Of all his years traveling across the galaxy, never once had he been so well received by two sides of his judgement.  With that, the Exiler became emotional and teared up.  He kissed the little girl on the forehead, hugged her, and placed her back on her feet.  Seeing the tears in Exiler's eyes, the tour group felt good enough to shake Exiler's hand and say hello, with one of the younger women of the tour group giving Exiler a kiss on the cheek as well, all stating an equivocal 'welcome to Earth' statement to the Exiler.  Exiler nodded to each of them and said something in Erante that no one understood.  Exiler then cupped his hand under the little girl's chin and gave her a long look with a tearful smile.  Exiler then backed away and flew up into space and back to Terracer 1.

Back on Terracer 1, the Exiler  phased through the hangar doors once again and met with the two captains.  Again, using Thesillis' universal translator device, Exiler asked the captain why the beautiful, kind and loving people of Earth wanted Terracer 1 dead.  The two captains described to Exiler all that had happened to them; the Soltan Invasion, the threat of a 2nd invasion, the UN president's heart attack, the world's misunderstanding of what was construed to be Terry's assassination of the UN President, and Terry's subsequent escape and theft of Terracer 1 to buy Earth the time it needs to prepare for the next Soltan invasion. As the conversation continued, Exiler seemed to get more upset by the minute.  At one point, Terry asked Exiler why he seemed so upset. Exiler responded that of all the races, planets and civilizations he's come across, he's never met a more kinder and beautiful people than those of Earth. Exiler stated that he would stay aboard Terracer 1, but only to the extent that any involvement he'd be part of was in saving the life of innocents, and for no other reason, unless he himself was forced to perform a 'judgement'.    With this strange turn of events, Exiler returned the nuclear missiles to Earth, placing them each at their respective missile silos and rejoined the Terracer 1 crew, releasing the ship from its unmoving state, and allowing Terracer 1 to continue on its journey, with him onboard to continue to gather the information needed for his 'judgement'.

Today, Star Knight is the captain of Terracer 1 and its loyal crew of over 150 human and alien "Astroknights", most of which hail from GUARD's ASTROGUARD division.  Star Knight has since made McDonald AKA "Starfighter" as his second in command.  Although Star Knight and his crew are still considered traitorous thieves and pirates by the United Nations and GUARD for their actions, complete with bounties on each of their heads starting at $250,000 (Star Knight's bounty at $2.5 million), most of the people who are in 'the know' on Earth see Star Knight and the crew of Terracer 1 as true heroes.

Terry has come a long way from his South Boston street life to now being a renegade starship captain of only 150 warriors and crew that may be the only means of stopping the next devastating invasion of Earth from the most powerful and ruthless galactic military force ever known - the Soltan Star Empire.

ARMOR, WEAPONS AND CAPABILITIES

Star Knight's armor and weapons were devised and built courtesy of the advanced technical skills of some of Terracer 1's gifted human and alien engineers.

  • Armor
    • Remarkable protection for physical, temperature-related and energy-based attacks.
    • Amazing radiation protection from all forms of radiation, including neutron and photonic radiation.
    • Armor seals up to become a self-contained environmental suit if the suit's sensors detect any loss of oxygen or violent atmospheric or embattled conditions.
    • Headgear projects an equivocal 'Heads Up Display' (HUD) image in front of his face when he shifts his armor to combat mode.  The HUD works with a miniaturized set of scanners and sensors allowing a form of mapping, navigating, signal tracking, telemetry and tactical display of combatants and/or threats.
    • Headgear also contains communications computer system with over 900 channels, capable of 300 miles of in-atmosphere range or 30,000 miles of outer space range.
    • Armor augments wearers strength by a 1x factor, endurance by a 2x factor, agility by a 2x factor and fighting by a 1x factor.
  • Flight  - Rocket Boots
    • Using an inexhaustible supply of fuel, Star Knight can fly with his boots up to speeds of 300 mph in atmosphere or 900 mph in space.
    • There are no atmospheric ceiling flight restrictions.
    • Boots are made of an incredibly strong material.
    • Uses gyroscopic-controlled nozzles tied into HUD tactical sensor system to maintain X, Y and Z axis positioning relative to Star Knight's sphere of space via body and hand motions.
  • Blaster
    • Carries an energy pistol that can inflict excellent energy damage in a shot every 5 seconds, or a good level of energy damage every 3 seconds.
    • Unlimited charges.
    • Made of incredibly strong materials.
  • Star Sword
    • Can inflict 1x factor of energy and/or physical damage of wielder's strength.
    • Unlimited energy charge; energy field can be turned off and weapon used as a club instead.
    • When adjusted, the energy blade can cut to a thinness of 5 microns or as wide as 1 inch.
    • When adjusted, the energy blade, normally cool to the touch, can be increased in temperature  to melt metals and materials up to amazingly strong strength, over time, of course.
    • Star Sword's power supply can be used to boost a single gauntlet's energy shield level of protection by a factor of 1.
  • Gauntlet Energy Shield(s)
    • Radiant energy shield available in either of Star Knight's gauntlets.
    • If only one shield is used, it's energy can provide amazing protection from heat, cold, energy and physical damage, as well as monstrous radiation protection.
    • If both shield are in use, the protection is halved between the two shields.
    • Star Sword's power supply can be affixed inside a gauntlet to increase the shield's strength by an additional factor of 1.

MDUverse Info

Astroknights is a superhero group created in the MDU by Don "Major Deej" Finger on 2 February 2016.  This team is an overhauled and reincorporated character team that consists of both newer characters created between12 Feb 2007 and 30 November 2012 and older, original characters also created by Don 'Major Deej' Finger, of previously made super-groups from his youth; the Solar Knights (1976) and the Universal Patrol (1976).

The Astroknights' leader for the 2016 incarnation of the team is Star Knight.

The ship, Terracer 1, was originally conceived by Don "Major Deej' Finger in 1977 as part of his Terracer space fleet of ships, all created during that same year.  Imagery and design of the current Terracer 1 shown on this site are NOT the official or final imagery of Terracer 1, but homages to what the Terracer 1 would relate to for size and overall looks, all viewed through art created and represented by their respective and represented artists work shown on this super-group's series of pages.

CoHverse: Astroknights were not on the MMORPG City of Heroes game, however, two other super-groups that each contained a majority of the Astroknights characters, did.  The Solar Knights super-group and characters were created on Triumph Server on 12 Feb 2007.  The other super-group, the Universal Patrol, and its characters, were created on Victory server on 18 Feb 2007.  Both super-groups  were maintained until the CoH servers were shutdown on 30 Nov 2012.
